Currently, the harvested summer-autumn rice area is 1,734/70,764ha, concentrated in Vinh Thanh, Co Do and O Mon districts with a yield of nearly 6 tons/ha. In the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop, Can Tho City farmers planted 70,764 hectares, reaching 100.8% of the plan. The rice area in the fields is mainly concentrated in the green-firm to ripe stage in districts and counties; only a part of the rice-bearing area is in Vinh Thanh, Thoi Lai and O Mon districts. Currently, the main disease on rice is grain smut, due to the influence of weather conditions, with some places having moderate and heavy rain at the time when the rice is green. The infected area is 601 hectares of rice in the green-firm stage, with a disease rate of 5-10%, mainly concentrated in Vinh Thanh district. Can Tho City Department of Agriculture recommends: Rice in the flowering - green solid stage needs to be watered and kept 3-5cm deep for the rice to flower quickly, evenly and become solid. There is no need to fertilize at this stage when sufficient and timely fertilizer has been provided in previous fertilizations; farmers are advised to continue monitoring the pest density in the field for timely prevention and control. In rainy and stormy weather conditions, rice crops that are about to be harvested, farmers need to proactively contact harvesters and traders to keep up with the harvest progress and limit loss. In addition, on newly harvested rice fields preparing for the next crop, the local agricultural sector needs to advise farmers to clean the fields and apply phosphate fertilizer right from the beginning of the season to limit organic poisoning and ensure a gap of 3 weeks or more between two crops...
