The success of the working trip is of utmost importance in both multilateral and bilateral foreign affairs activities, contributing to continuing to maintain and consolidate a peaceful , stable foreign affairs situation, favorable for the country's development.
Within the framework of the activities participating in the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2023 Summit Week and related events, President Vo Van Thuong had a series of activities including attending meetings, working sessions, bilateral contacts, etc. The President attended and delivered a speech at the 30th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting; attended and delivered a keynote speech at the CEO Summit; received the US Business Alliance APEC; attended the Indo-Pacific Economic Cooperation for Prosperity (IPEF) Summit; attended the dialogue between APEC leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC); attended the dialogue and had lunch and worked with guests; attended the Retreat of APEC Economic Leaders. The President also spent time visiting and talking with Vietnamese businesses that had booths during the APEC Summit Week.
In particular, during the APEC Summit Week, President Vo Van Thuong had meetings with leaders of APEC economies and invited guests. The President met and discussed with: US President's Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry; Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim; Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra. At the meetings, leaders of the economies and invited guests highly appreciated the position and role of Vietnam; agreed to increase delegation exchanges, promote political -diplomatic cooperation, economic-trade, science-technology, education and training, connectivity between localities of Vietnam and other countries, people-to-people exchanges as well as mutual support at regional and international forums.
During bilateral activities in the United States, President Vo Van Thuong received Governor of California Gavin Newsom; and Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles Erin Bromaghim. The President attended and spoke at the Roundtable connecting businesses and localities on high technology; and received representatives of leading US companies and corporations in aviation and technology: Boeing and Apple. On this occasion, the President visited an overseas Vietnamese family; met with leaders and officials of Vietnamese diplomatic missions in the United States; and visited Stanford University Medical Center.
Notably, the President delivered a speech and discussed policies at the US Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). The President’s speech on the world situation, Vietnam’s foreign policy and Vietnam-US relations at CFR was highly appreciated by the US community./.
