National Assembly Chairman attends National Great Unity Day in Can Tho

(Dan Tri) - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and celebrated the National Great Unity Day with officials and people in Can Tho City.

On November 9, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the National Assembly delegation and Can Tho City leaders attended and celebrated the National Great Unity Day at Chau Thanh Hamlet, An Ninh Commune, Can Tho City.

At the festival, the National Assembly Chairman and delegates together with the people reviewed the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025).

Speaking at the festival, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated and commended the achievements that Chau Thanh hamlet people have made in recent times.

He also congratulated Tum Nup Pagoda (Khmer pagoda in the area) for its many contributions to the local economy, society and culture. Notably, the pagoda has 2 Ngo boat racing teams for men and women for 3 consecutive years (2023-2025) winning the championship in the traditional Ngo boat racing of the Khmer ethnic group.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man asked the people of Chau Thanh hamlet to continue promoting and striving to achieve more achievements in economic, social and cultural construction and development; and strive to reduce poverty and escape poverty sustainably.

Localities need to improve the quality of front work, promote the movement of the entire people uniting to build a cultural life associated with the movement of the entire people protecting national security.

He also asked local authorities to pay attention to taking care of policy families and poor households; promoting education in ethnic minority areas; protecting security and order; and building an increasingly strong national unity bloc.

At the festival, the National Assembly Chairman presented gifts to the people of Chau Thanh hamlet and the monks of Tum Nup pagoda.

In addition, the National Assembly and Can Tho City also presented 50 gifts to policy households, near-poor households, and local monks; presented 5 solidarity houses and 20 scholarships to students.

Chau Thanh Hamlet (An Ninh Commune, Can Tho City) has a natural area of ​​more than 316 hectares, of which about 286 hectares are used for rice cultivation, the rest is used for growing fruit trees, crops, and residential land.

The hamlet's population consists of three ethnic groups: Kinh, Khmer, and Chinese, who have lived together for a long time. More than 70% of the hamlet's population lives on agriculture, the rest work in commerce and services.

In recent years, the political security situation, social order and safety have been stable, ethnic groups and religions have been united and harmonious, preserving cultural identity, and well implementing the Party's policies and the State's laws. The people have confidence in the Party's leadership, actively worked in production, and contributed to the local socio-economic development.
