Recently, the People's Committee of Thanh Tri district solemnly held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to restore and embellish the Van Phuc pagoda relic, Van Phuc commune.
Van Phuc Pagoda relic, Van Phuc commune was honored to be ranked as a National Architectural and Artistic Relic by the Ministry of Culture - Information - Sports and Tourism (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1992. The pagoda is located on a high mound, near the Red River, facing the Southwest. Van Phuc Pagoda has a Front Hall - Upper Hall, which are formed in a closely related unified entity. The pagoda still preserves many valuable antiques with different dates, including many precious statues such as the three statues of Tam The A Di Da, Quan Am, Dai The Chi and bronze bells dating from the 18th century. The two sides and the back clearly state the name of the person being worshiped and the stele shows the year Chinh Hoa, the reign of King Le Hy Tong (1680 - 1764) ....
Van Phuc Pagoda
Van Phuc Pagoda is a valuable work in terms of history, culture, architecture and art, and is also a revolutionary relic, associated with two resistance wars in the 20th century of the nation. It is a place to show gratitude to previous generations, a place to educate patriotic traditions, and contribute to building a rich spiritual life for the people.
Over time, some items of the Pagoda have been degraded, affecting the worship, sightseeing and rituals of the local people and visitors. In this situation, there is an urgent need to renovate and embellish the Van Phuc Pagoda relic to overcome damaged, degraded items that do not ensure the safety of the relic, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the typical cultural values of the relic.
Through a survey of the current situation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Document No. 1945, dated May 9, 2024 and the People's Committee of Thanh Tri district approved the project in Decision No. 2834, dated June 4, 2024. The project's construction drawing design documents were appraised and approved by the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in accordance with regulations.
The project to renovate and embellish Van Phuc Pagoda includes the following items: Renovating the Tam Bao house, the Ancestral Temple, the Mau house, and the Tam Quan gate; renovating and repairing auxiliary works such as the yard, garden, fence, electricity supply, water supply and drainage, termite control, and fire prevention and fighting. The project is expected to be completed in December 2025.
