The People's Committee of Me Linh district has just sent a document to departments and the police force to notify about the direction after inspecting the compliance with the law in mineral exploitation activities of Tien Giang Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company (in Chu Phan commune).
Specifically, the People's Committee of Me Linh district requested the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to transfer the file to the police to investigate the 7.8-hectare area of sandbank along the Red River in Chu Phan commune showing signs of illegal sand mining.
At the same time, make a record of administrative sanctions for the act of encroaching on unused land of Tien Giang Company.
Me Linh District strictly prohibits Tien Giang Company from operating during the annual flood season (from May 16 of the previous year to October 31 of the following year); returns the land area of 0.99ha to the People's Committee of Chu Phan Commune for management; and terminates operations at the wharf built in an incorrect location as permitted.
In addition, the District Police and relevant units are required to have a plan to inspect and supervise according to their authority, and require the company to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on minerals, land, dikes, and environmental protection during the exploitation period.
The People's Committee of Me Linh district requested relevant organizations and individuals to seriously review and learn from the shortcomings related to the sandbank that Tien Giang Company is exploiting; focus on organizing implementation and reporting results before December 31, 2023.
Previously, VietNamNet newspaper published an article reflecting that for more than 17 years, the sandbank along the Red River in Chu Phan village has been exploited, which is also the time when the local people have lived with dust and trucks running noisily day and night.
After the above reflection, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested relevant units to investigate and clarify.
Following the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee, Me Linh district has inspected the compliance with the law in mineral exploitation activities and construction material transit yards of Tien Giang Company.
