Vingroup shares soar after VinFast trades on Nasdaq

On August 16, VIC shares of Vingroup Corporation increased to their full range in the morning trading session. VIC's upward momentum was maintained until the end of the session, bringing this code to 75,600 VND/share with more than 19.4 million units traded. VIC's liquidity increased by 32% compared to yesterday and increased by 50% compared to the average trading of the last 10 sessions.

VIC shares "turned purple" bringing Vingroup's market capitalization to VND288,330 billion, equivalent to about USD12 billion, an increase of nearly USD4 billion after nearly 1 month. VIC's liquidity also contributed significantly to the total trading value on the HOSE floor this session with nearly VND21,000 billion. Thus, from the end of July until now, VIC has had 4 sessions closing at the ceiling price, bringing the price of this stock up 48% in just less than a month.

VIC's rise is believed to have been influenced by the event when VinFast electric car company's shares officially traded for the first time on the Nasdaq on August 15 (closing early morning August 16, Vietnam time). VinFast's VFS shares closed the first session at 37.06 USD/share, an increase of 68.4% compared to the opening price.

Not only VIC, information from VinFast also supported the stock prices of VHM of Vinhomes and VRE of Vincom Retail to increase by 1.94% and 0.64% respectively.

The three Vingroup stocks had a positive impact on the VN-Index while the number of stocks that decreased in price on the stock exchange this session was overwhelming. At the end of the session, the VN-Index increased by 9.21 points to 1,243.26 points, but there were 243 stocks that decreased in price and 217 stocks that increased in price. The VN30-Index alone, thanks to VIC hitting the ceiling, closed the session with a strong increase of 15.71 points to 1,256.95 points.

Similarly, the HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange added 1.11 points to 252.56 points, but there were 109 stocks decreasing in price and 79 stocks increasing in price.
