Colombian and Ecuadorian police said they had jointly dismantled Los Curva, a criminal organization that trafficked five tons of cocaine a month to the United States and Europe, and arrested its leaders, two Colombian brothers.
Colombian police say the Los Curva criminal organization makes more than $2 billion a year from drug trafficking. The arrests of its leaders, Colombian brothers Hader Cuero and Dairon Cuero, were part of a year-long police operation. Hader Cuero is wanted by the United States on drug trafficking charges.
According to Ecuadorian police, Los Curva uses speedboats and Mexican-flagged ships to transport drugs to Mexico by sea. Police added that Los Curva has links to Mexico's Sinaloa cartel and criminal gangs in the Balkans region of Europe.
In 2023, police also arrested six Colombians and 22 Ecuadorians in a crackdown on drug crimes.
