Going on the road from the former highland commune of Phan Dung to Phong Phu commune, now both merged into Tuy Phong commune, you can see the white covering an area mixed with beautiful green extending down to the plain. From afar, it looks like clouds are descending on the fields, especially this season when the weather is cool, sometimes there is a light rain. But in fact, those are apple fields of the people covered with nets. This year, many apple areas are about to bear fruit, so people have deployed nets in large numbers, so net houses appear more and wider, creating surprises. Especially along the Ta Mu - Suoi Mang - Cay Ca canal, at the end of last year there was nothing to see, now net houses have covered many sections, belonging to the old Phong Phu commune.
Many households in this area said that at the beginning of this year's season, the price of apples was 12,000 - 15,000 VND/kg. Now in season, the price of apples sold at the garden has dropped to 9,000 VND/kg, bought in bulk. But compared to previous years, during the harvest season, the price usually stopped at 7,000 VND/kg, bought in bulk. This good sign helps apple growers here hope that this year's harvest around Tet will have a high price. Because at that time, traders will buy more; even gardeners will sell their own apples at tourist facilities on the sea side of Lien Huong commune for tourists. In particular, if tourists do not like to eat fresh apples, they can also enjoy dried apples on the spot or buy them as gifts, because the packaging is very convenient for long-distance travel. The retail price of dried apples is 160,000 VND/kg and the wholesale price is 140,000 VND/kg.
In fact, the time before and after Tet is also the time when tourists travel from Ta Nang to Phan Dung down to Phong Phu towards the East Sea, so apples are consumed more. In fact, it must be noted that the boom in backpacking tourism according to the exploration needs of tourists from all over the place has contributed to stimulating the expansion of fruit growing areas, in which apples are prominent, as well as increasing livestock in Phan Dung and Phong Phu.
According to Tuy Phong commune's data, up to now, the area of apples grown in greenhouses is 112 hectares, an increase of 85 hectares compared to 2020; other fruit trees such as dragon fruit, coconut, jackfruit, guava... are about 230 hectares, also an increase compared to 2020. In addition, the total herd of livestock and poultry in the whole commune is 31,284, of which cows, pigs, chickens, and ducks have reached tens of thousands. These are the products that tourists like to enjoy in Phan Dung, to replenish their physical strength after crossing Ta Nang forest, especially since they are processed in the way of the people, creating a very unique flavor that is not available anywhere else. Therefore, if you want to buy chickens in Phan Dung, you must order in advance, so that people can call the chickens busy foraging in the forest to come home and catch them.
Not only that, going down to Lien Huong commune beach... visitors can of course enjoy a variety of dishes from the seafood resources that are also very diverse and abundant here, especially grilled mackerel and oil-coated fish.
