On June 4, Tra Vinh City Police (Tra Vinh) said they were verifying and clarifying the case of a young man blocking the road and smashing the windshield of an ambulance carrying a patient in Ward 7. The incident was filmed and posted on social media, causing outrage.
The police said the young man involved was HQD (25 years old, residing in Ward 9, Tra Vinh City). After the incident, the young man left the area. The police are urging the family to call D. to return to the area to cooperate with the investigation.
According to initial information, on the afternoon of May 31, an ambulance transported a patient from Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) to Thien An Hospital (Tra Vinh City) for continued treatment.
When arriving at Nguyen Dang Street (Ward 7, Tra Vinh City), the ambulance driver saw two motorbikes ahead, so he honked his horn to give priority. At this time, the people on the motorbikes did not yield the right of way.
When the ambulance driver managed to get past the vehicle, the young man on the motorbike chased after him. When they reached the road near Tra Vinh General Hospital, the young man blocked the ambulance, threw bricks and stones, damaging the vehicle. Previously, two clips appeared on social media recording a young man holding a chair to block an ambulance in the middle of the road, in front of Tra Vinh Provincial Hospital, to "compete" with the driver. In the clip, the young man holds a chair and runs out to block the ambulance, threatening to beat the driver, but is stopped by a woman.
In the remaining clip, the young man holds a hard object that looks like a brick and throws it at the ambulance's window, breaking the windshield and continues to "compete" with the driver...
