Members of the VinFuture season 5 scientific councils are leading experts in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, biochemistry, meteorology and atmospheric physics, materials science and engineering, etc. These are all "fields" that are attracting great attention from the world and are predicted to shape science and technology as well as the development of humanity in the future.
Notably, in the 5th season, the two VinFuture councils welcomed new members, including: Prof. Daniela Rus (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) joining the Award Council. The Preliminary Council also has three new members: Prof. Ana Belén Elgoyhen (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina), Dr. Filippo Giorgi (Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, Italy) and Dr. Jayshree Seth (3M Corporation, USA).

Accepting the invitation to join the VinFuture Prize Council, Professor Daniela Rus shared: “The VinFuture Prize is a great initiative, honoring outstanding contributions to science and technology. I am very happy to see AI researchers and achievements receive the recognition they deserve. I hope this cooperation will become a fulcrum, inspiring the young generation, researchers and developers around the world, so that they can continuously conquer new heights in the field of AI and robotics.”
Prof. Daniela Rus - the new member of the Award Committee holds a PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University (USA). She is currently the Andrew and Erna Viterbi Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA). She is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her research interests include robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, with the goal of creating a better world . She has received many prestigious awards such as the Engelberger Prize, the IEEE RAS Technical Award, the John Scott Medal, and the IEEE Edison Medal.
In the field of biochemistry, this year's Preliminary Council has the participation of Prof. Ana Belén Elgoyhen - senior researcher and Deputy Director of the Institute of Genetic Technology and Molecular Biology of the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET), and a member of the World Academy of Sciences, the Latin American Academy of Sciences and the Argentine Academy of Sciences. She is also the winner of the L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women Scientists of Latin America (2008), the Argentine National Scientist awarded by the President (2012)...
Also on the Preliminary Selection Committee is Dr. Filippo Giorgi – a leading expert in the field of Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics with outstanding contributions to climate research and scientific development in developing countries. He is currently an Honorary Scientist at the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy. In 2020, a Stanford University study based on multiple bibliographic indicators ranked him 11th in a list of the world's 54,940 most influential scientists in the field of Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics. During his career, Dr. Giorgi has received many prestigious awards, including the 2018 Alexander von Humboldt Medal from the European Geosciences Union (EGU).
The two Founders of VinFuture Foundation presented flowers to thank the members of the VinFuture Award Council and Preliminary Jury at the VinFuture Award Ceremony 2024.
In addition, the Preliminary Council also welcomed Dr. Jayshree Seth - a leading expert and the first Chief Scientific Development Officer of 3M Corporation (USA). Her career is impressive with 80 published patents and a series of prestigious awards in the world, typically the Most Prestigious Achievement Award from the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the first person to win the Gold Award in the category of Female Thought Leader of the Year at the 18th Stevie Awards for Women in Business. She was also honored in the Thinkers50 Radar list to honor those who have the potential to shape the thinking of the management industry in the future.
The VinFuture Prize Season 5 will accept nominations until 2:00 p.m. on April 17, 2025 (Vietnam time, GMT+7). Nominations submitted after this deadline will be automatically transferred to the 2026 season for consideration.
After 4 years of implementation, the Prize has attracted nearly 3 times the number of nominations - from 599 projects in the first year to 1,469 projects in the 2024 season. Many VinFuture Prize winners have continued to be honored in a series of other prestigious international awards, such as Nobel, Breakthrough...
