Religious communities contribute to building great unity - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television

Over the past years, through many practical and meaningful activities, religious organizations in the province have been spreading the spirit of solidarity and humanity, contributing to socio-economic development and preserving national cultural identity.

Representatives of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province and the Provincial Red Cross Society visited the family that received support to build a solidarity house in Hung Dao commune, Binh Gia district.

The province currently has three main religions (Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism) with a total of more than 11,000 followers, accounting for nearly 1.4% of the province's population.

Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said: In recent times, religious people in the whole province have always actively responded to and participated in patriotic emulation campaigns and movements, notably the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas (NTM), civilized urban areas" associated with the movement "Lang Son and the whole country join hands to build NTM"; activities "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source"; participating in contributing to funds "For the poor", social security... Thereby, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's socio -economic development tasks, building the cultural life of residential areas and consolidating the great solidarity of ethnic groups.

Typical of the activities of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the province, Most Venerable Thich Quang Truyen, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province, said: Realizing that building the great national unity bloc is an important task of the entire Party, the entire people, of religions in general and Buddhism in particular, we regularly propagate to monks, nuns, and Buddhists to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws. At the same time, we mobilize monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people to actively respond to emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, participate in humanitarian activities, and build a cultural life.

From 2019 to present, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province has supported the construction of nearly 20 bridges for people, more than 10 solidarity houses, branch roads for checking landmarks, border protection... with a total amount of over 9.6 billion VND.

In addition, religions in the province also have many specific and practical actions contributing to the construction of the new rural areas. From 2017 to now, Catholics in the province have supported more than 1 billion VND, donated over 1,000 m2 of land, mobilized more than 1,000 working days... to expand roads, build cultural houses, and renovate the system of intra-field canals. In particular, religious followers have also actively developed the economy and united, mobilizing local people to practice a civilized lifestyle, build cultural families, and model residential areas...

Parishioner Hoang Van Canh, block 9, Vinh Trai ward, Lang Son city said: With the spirit of "Living the gospel in the heart of the nation", I not only enthusiastically develop the economy (the model of producing concrete bricks, growing ornamental peach trees brings in an income of nearly 300 million VND/year) but also always comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, actively participate in cultural and social activities... every year I achieve the title of "Cultural Family".

Along with social activities, religious organizations are also a bridge between the government and the people in propagating and mobilizing followers to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and actively participate in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Son district, said: The whole district currently has nearly 1,000 Catholic and Protestant religious followers... With their prestige and responsibility, the religious dignitaries have promoted their role as role models, proactively propagating and mobilizing people to live "good lives, good religions", not listening to bad people, not gathering in large numbers, contributing to maintaining security and order. In the past 5 years, in areas where religious people follow religion, there have been no complicated incidents related to security and order and social evils.

With a sense of responsibility and civic awareness, the religious community in the province has been making an important contribution to the cause of socio-economic development, contributing to the solid consolidation of the great national unity bloc. Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the religious community will continue to promote the tradition of patriotism, living a "good life, good religion", strengthening activities to connect with the community, contributing to building a united, humane and sustainably developed society.
