This year, the event brings together 1,532 booths of 950 companies from 42 countries and territories, with the theme "Food: Redefined".

According to the Ministry of Agriculture , Food and Rural Affairs of Korea, this is not just an exhibition, but also a place to reflect the great progress of the global food industry in the era of technology and sustainability.

From a country that once depended on traditional agriculture, South Korea has become a food industrial powerhouse with impressive growth rates.

“K-food” products, from kimchi, gochujang, sweet potato noodles to processed foods and fermented drinks… are dominating the global market thanks to a strategy combining biotechnology, production automation and Hallyu (Korean wave) cultural marketing strategy.

“Food technology is the future growth engine that will move people's diets toward a healthy and sustainable direction,” said Song Mi-ryung, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea.

She said the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs would continue to support start-ups and encourage innovation across the food value chain, from farm to fork, to create delicious, healthy and environmentally friendly products.

In particular, many seminars on the latest food technology trends took place, including a presentation by Mr. Jean-Martin Bauer, Director of the World Food Programme (WFP).

Speakers will focus on revolutionizing nutrition through artificial technology, alternative proteins and environmentally friendly packaging materials, areas in which the world's leading food corporations are investing heavily.

Korean Food Week becomes a “living laboratory” for future culinary trends

Global trend: “Food for the planet”

The global food industry is entering a period of profound redefinition. If the 20th century focused on productivity and scale, the 21st century emphasizes sustainability, traceability and personalized culinary experiences.

From traditional fermented foods to soy-based meat alternatives, from cellular agriculture to 3D food printing, they all work towards the same goal: Feeding humanity without sacrificing the environment.

South Korea is at the forefront of this wave. Its businesses not only focus on product innovation, but also incorporate the “food for the planet” philosophy into every stage of production, distribution and consumption.

Therefore, Korean Food Week becomes a “living laboratory” for future culinary trends, where technology, culture and creativity blend together to shape the future of global cuisine.

In 2024, Korean Food Week attracted 1,846 booths from 1,054 companies from 37 countries and territories, with more than 63,000 visitors.

The growth in both scale and quality by 2025 shows the strong appeal of the Korean food industry and its ability to lead global consumption trends.

Korean Food Week affirms itself as a “playground” for big brands and an incubator for creative startup ideas, demonstrating Korea’s ability to integrate, adapt and lead in the field considered the “next green economy”.

From Seoul, where culinary, technological and creative excellence converge, the world can see clearly: The food industry is entering a new era. Where eating well means living cleanly, living sustainably and living responsibly.
