Vietnam Airlines Corporation has proactively adjusted the routes and operating plans of flights between Vietnam and Europe to ensure the safety of passengers and flight crews.
In response to information about the military conflict between India and Pakistan that occurred on the morning of May 7, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam warned of the risk of affecting the operations and flight safety of Vietnamese airlines with flights to, from or through this area.
Timely change of flight path
To ensure safety, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airlines to closely monitor the developments of the conflict between India and Pakistan; proactively assess the impact on existing flight routes. Airlines also need to review their operating plans to promptly adjust and select alternative flight routes if necessary.
In particular, airlines are not allowed to choose alternate airports that have been announced to be closed (if any) or airports located near airspace that may be affected.
The agency also noted that in case of having to adjust the operating plan, airlines need to promptly inform passengers, and at the same time respond to difficulties and problems during the implementation process to receive handling instructions.
Faced with the unstable situation, Vietnam Airlines Corporation has proactively adjusted the routes and operating plans of flights between Vietnam and Europe to ensure the safety of passengers and flight crews.
Specifically, on May 7, flights were adjusted to avoid flying through Pakistan's airspace, including: VN36, VN37 ( Hanoi - Frankfurt); VN30, VN31 (Ho Chi Minh City - Frankfurt); VN10, VN11 (Ho Chi Minh City - Paris); VN18, VN19 (Hanoi - Paris) and VN50 (London - Ho Chi Minh City).
Not only Vietnam Airlines, but also a number of airlines in Asia have adjusted flight schedules to ensure safety in the face of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
Accordingly, EVA Air (Taiwan, China) diverted flights to and from Vienna. Korean Air avoided Pakistani airspace with flights between Incheon (South Korea) and Dubai (UAE).
Faced with the unpredictable developments of the situation in South Asia, airlines are actively monitoring and adjusting flight operations to ensure maximum safety for passengers.
