The nearly 30-year-old music competition officially restarts

The Hanoi Voice Contest - where artists Hong Nhung, My Linh, Dang Duong, Tan Minh, Tung Duong stepped out and became excellent singers of the capital's and the country's music - has officially announced its return.

On November 12, the contest " Hanoi's Voice 2024" officially returned, continuing the journey of searching for and honoring talented young singers of the capital. It is known that this contest started in 1997.

This is a cultural and artistic event practically organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and 1014 years of Thang Long - Hanoi.

This year's contest is not only an artistic playground, but also an opportunity for contestants as well as Hanoians to review the heroic history and arouse love and pride for the homeland in everyone's heart.

Where the top divas gather

"The Voice of Hanoi 2024" has the theme "Hanoi - A Pink Heart". This is the central message throughout the contest, not only honoring the elegant beauty of Hanoi, but also depicting the love and pride in the cultural and artistic traditions that the capital has preserved over thousands of years of history.

The songs and voices that resounded from the contest were both the hearts of the contestants and the echoes of generations of Hanoians, as a tribute to the land that nurtured their spirit and talent.

More than 400 contestants aged 16-35 are currently living, working and studying in Hanoi and some contestants have won high prizes in vocal competitions in several provinces and centrally run cities.

The competition consists of three main rounds: preliminary round, semi-final round and final night. The organizing committee will select the 60 best contestants to continue competing in the semi-final round, where the contestants will be supported by a professional orchestra.

Mr. Do Dinh Hong - Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports did not disclose the award.

The final round will be a night of brilliance for the 12 most outstanding singers, where they will perform in front of the Jury and the audience with songs about Hanoi and a song of their own choice.

Through each round, the contestants will demonstrate their skills and stage presence. At the same time, they will express their love, passion and desire to contribute to music, conveying their love for Hanoi through each lyric and each melody.

People's Artist Quoc Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the Vietnam National Academy of Music - member of the Jury, also revealed some criteria of this year's competition: "Regarding the criteria, of course, it is the voice and the appearance. Candidates with good voices and beautiful appearance, more importantly, the ability to feel music and the ability to process music, they will definitely win the prize.

According to the information I have, almost all of the candidates who registered for the contest this year are from vocational schools. It can be said that this year's contest is very competitive, which is also very difficult for the judges. The judging panel is also very strong and all of them are the most professional people."

No prize disclosure

Regarding the award structure, the program will award First, Second and Third prizes for three main music genres: Chamber Music, Folk Music and Light Music, along with secondary prizes such as: The Best Contestant Singing About Hanoi Award and The Most Popular Contestant Award.

However, when asked about the award, Mr. Do Dinh Hong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports did not give a specific number. He said that when the contestant won the highest prize, the word "Hanoi" was attached to the name of the award.

He said that the competition has been prestigious for nearly 40 years with individuals such as People's Artist Tan Minh, diva Hong Nhung, My Linh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Meritorious Artist Viet Hoan, Tung Duong and many other artists who have emerged from this competition, becoming excellent singers of the capital's and the country's music, which is a testament to the prestige and success of this competition.

People's Artist Quoc Hung is one of the prestigious judges of this year's competition.

When asked by the press about the outstanding voices coming out of this year's competition, Mr. Do Dinh Hong said that he personally hopes that young talents will be given more opportunities to contribute their creativity to the city in the coming years: "Young artists really need a good space to participate in the musical life of the capital.

The final night is scheduled to be held at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace and will be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television, bringing a colorful musical party, sending love for the Capital to all audiences.
