Reuters reports that former Italian Prime Minister Sylvio Berlusconi passed away today (June 12). Besides his political career, Berlusconi was also well-known in the world of football as the president of AC Milan.
The Italian politician bought AC Milan in 1986 when the club was on the verge of bankruptcy. Berlusconi's investments helped AC Milan regain its position as a top club in Italy and European football. During the Berlusconi era, AC Milan won 8 Serie A titles, 1 Italian Cup, 5 Champions League titles, and 5 UEFA Super Cups.

Berlusconi owned AC Milan from 1986 to 2012. During that time, the former Italian Prime Minister directly served as president of the club in two periods (1986-2004) and (2006-2008). In the periods 2004-2006 and 2006-2012, Adriano Galliani headed AC Milan's management.
Berlusconi's health deteriorated significantly from April 2023. The former Italian Prime Minister was hospitalized for an emergency due to a lung infection. Last month, he was discharged from the hospital.
The former AC Milan president contracted COVID-19. Prior to this, he had undergone heart surgery in 2016 and also suffered from prostate cancer. Berlusconi's health was not good in his final years.
