The patient, Mr. PHM (32 years old, in Xuan Hoa commune, Dong Nai province), was admitted to the hospital in a state of fatigue, unable to eat or drink, losing weight rapidly, only about 28kg, with pale skin and mucous membranes. Previously, the patient had undergone intestinal torsion surgery twice at Cho Ray Hospital. After surgery, the patient suffered from a digestive fistula and had his jejunum brought to the skin for tube feeding. However, when he returned home, the pumping of nutrients through the tube was difficult, causing the patient's body to be unable to absorb them, leading to rapid exhaustion.
The patient was admitted to the hospital on July 14, and after 8 days of active nutritional intervention, the health condition gradually stabilized but the digestive fluid was excreted too much (4-5 liters/day) causing pain, burning, and weakness. The doctors decided to perform early jejunostomy to avoid the risk of more serious complications.
After surgery, the patient recovered quickly, can now walk, and his weight increased from 28kg to 33kg. On August 6, the patient was discharged from the hospital.
