The severe case is THD., (female, born in 1963) who is currently being treated at the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison, Gia Dinh People's Hospital. The patient was intubated and put on a ventilator due to progressive pneumonia causing acute respiratory failure, on the background of many chronic diseases including high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation and type 2 diabetes. The accompanying food poisoning worsened the clinical picture. Currently, the patient's condition is gradually stabilizing, has been weaned off the ventilator and the endotracheal tube has been removed, and loose stools have decreased...
Currently, the two bakeries have temporarily stopped operations, all food and ingredients have been sealed and samples taken for testing. The inspection team is expanding the verification of related cases at many hospitals to determine the cause and handle them according to regulations.
Clinical and laboratory data showed that the majority of patients had intestinal infections, most likely caused by Salmonella - a common cause of food poisoning.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has reported to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Ministry of Health about the poisoning incident and directed hospitals to admit, classify, and treat it according to food poisoning protocols.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety is also coordinating with functional forces to establish an investigation team.
