Some road surface damage on Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway has been repaired.

Some damaged sections of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway due to heavy rain and prolonged flooding have been completely repaired by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC).

The recent damage to the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway surface is mainly due to long-term exploitation and local flooding.

According to VEC representative, as of the end of August 28, Operation Team No. 2 Noi Bai - Lao Cai Center of Vietnam Expressway Operation and Maintenance Joint Stock Company (VEC O&M) has carried out pothole patching from Km 54+600 - Km 79+000; and hot patching at Km 66+800 on the right of the route.

VEC O&M Operation Team No. 1 has also completed repairing road surface damage at the following locations: Km18+50 right-of-way; Km18+100 right-of-way; Km25 - Km26 left-of-way...

During the damage handling process, two Operation teams placed warning signs from a distance, and separated lanes and traffic flows to ensure absolute safety for vehicles.

It is known that the above-mentioned damaged road sections are located on sections that have been built and put into operation for 11 years and were damaged by heavy rains that lasted for a long time earlier this week, causing localized flooding. Warning signs have been placed from a distance, and lanes have been divided to ensure safety for vehicles.

Through inspection, the locations that were previously repaired in the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Surface Repair Package still ensure quality and operational functionality.

The Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway has a total length of 245 km, passing through 3 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Phu Tho, Lao Cai with a scale of 4 lanes for the Noi Bai - Yen Bai section and 2 lanes for the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section.

After 11 years of operation and exploitation, with strong growth in traffic volume, especially heavy trucks, many sections of the route have been damaged and show signs of degradation.

After implementing two packages to repair damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems, VEC will continue to carry out major overhauls and repairs to the remaining locations. The design documents are currently in the approval phase for overall implementation in the fourth quarter of 2025.
