Da Nang aims to become a national center for startups and innovation, a regional center for digital transformation.

DNO - On the afternoon of July 28, at a working session with Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung, the leaders of Da Nang city affirmed their determination to effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo with the goal of becoming a national startup and innovation center, a regional digital transformation center and an international financial center.

Accordingly, Da Nang clearly identified three goals: building a national startup and innovation center, a digital transformation center in Southeast Asia, and an international financial center.

Also attending were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Duc Dung and representatives of relevant departments, agencies and branches.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang emphasized that even before Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation was issued, Da Nang city identified science, technology, startups and innovation as the key foundation to achieve sustainable development goals.

That orientation is specified in many important guidelines, policies and action programs; the most recent is Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW dated May 13, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 on building and developing Da Nang city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, which clearly states the requirement to build Da Nang into a national center of science, technology and innovation.

According to the Secretary of the City Party Committee, Da Nang has achieved three important initial results: Building institutions as the foundation for science and technology development and innovation; developing modern information technology infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for digital transformation and digital economy; attracting high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of information technology and semiconductors - strategic fields in the new era.

Sharing at the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang said that Da Nang clearly identified three central goals that the city is aiming for to effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW: National Center for Startups and Innovation; Southeast Asia Regional Digital Transformation Center; International Financial Center.

To realize this goal, the city has developed and synchronously implemented 8 strategic action programs: Program for developing digital infrastructure, science and technology infrastructure and innovation; program for developing industry, strategy and key scientific research; program for developing ecosystems, startups, innovation; program for developing high-quality human resources and science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; program for developing digital government and smart cities; program for developing digital technology industry associated with digital economy; program for developing cultural industry associated with digital society and program for ensuring cybersecurity.

In particular, in the field of smart city construction, Da Nang expressed its desire for the Ministry of Science and Technology to advise the Government to issue an overall architectural framework for smart cities, in order to create a legal corridor and standardization orientation for the construction and operation of smart systems in the future.

In addition, Da Nang proposed that the Ministry support the city in building a carbon credit trading floor and green financial products to anticipate the trend of sustainable development and green economy in the context of the world facing climate change and environmental pressure.

At the meeting, the leaders of the City People's Committee highlighted a number of achievements and presented important proposals and recommendations to promote the comprehensive development of Da Nang in the coming time.

This includes allowing the expansion of controlled testing (sandbox) in the field of innovation; establishing the National Center for Supporting Innovative Startups in Da Nang; supporting investment in key technology infrastructure; allowing the installation of low-altitude satellite ground stations and granting operating licenses - a strategic step to enhance remote sensing and digital connectivity capabilities. Along with that, supporting high-tech and strategic technology fields, especially applications in urban management and public services.
