Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung said that in recent years, Da Nang has always clearly identified the orientation of developing smart cities as one of the important pillars in the city's sustainable development strategy.
With the motto of "taking people as the center, businesses as the driving force, technology as the tool", Da Nang has achieved many remarkable achievements in the journey of building a smart city.
The city has completed and put into operation the Smart City Operations Center (IOC) with a surveillance camera system throughout the area, integrating data from key areas such as traffic, security and order, health, education , environment, etc.
Da Nang e-Government is among the top in the country with the rate of level 4 online public services reaching more than 1,600 services, provided through the city's Public Service Portal.
Da Nang is the first locality in the country to synchronously deploy open data and a platform for sharing interconnected data between departments, branches, and grassroots levels, contributing to improving operational efficiency and better serving the people.
People rate their satisfaction with the city government at a high level. For many years, Da Nang has been rated by domestic and international organizations as one of the most livable cities in Vietnam, harmoniously combining infrastructure development, environmental protection and improving the quality of life.
Da Nang strives to become an ecological, modern, smart and livable city, a major socio -economic center of the country and Southeast Asia in the future. In particular, a smart city is not only the application of technology but also a comprehensive digital transformation process, placing people at the center of all policies and services.
However, there are still difficulties and challenges such as digital infrastructure between fields is not completely synchronized; high-quality human resources in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, digital management are still lacking and uneven; the transition from traditional urban management thinking to smart management thinking, investment resources... have not met the demand.
That requires Da Nang to have a comprehensive, innovative approach and continue to learn from experience, technology and resources from domestic and foreign partners.
According to the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, the workshop is an important forum for experts, scientists, businesses, international organizations and management agencies to discuss, connect, share and propose effective and sustainable smart urban development models that can be applied appropriately to the actual conditions of Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general.
This will contribute significantly to the policy planning process and perfect the city's action programs in the coming time.

At the workshop, delegates shared Vietnam's strategic directions on building smart cities; experiences and solutions for building smart cities in Da Nang and the Philippines; smart infrastructure systems, smart solutions for smart countries; towards sustainability in infrastructure design; human resource training to serve the requirements of innovation and building smart cities.
