On the afternoon of May 19, Dr. Vo Thu Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Da Nang City, said that he had just sent a document to departments, branches, and People's Committees of districts and towns requesting to step up the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic throughout the area, especially in the context of the risk of infection that may increase during the holidays and summer tourist season.
According to information from the Ministry of Health , the number of Covid-19 cases is increasing in Thailand and some countries in Southeast Asia. From January 1 to May 10, Thailand recorded 53,676 Covid-19 infections and 16 deaths. The increase in Covid-19 cases is related to the Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.16.
People need to wear masks in public places, on public transport, and at medical facilities to prevent Covid-19.

Since the beginning of 2025, the country has recorded over 150 scattered cases of Covid-19 in a number of provinces and cities, with no deaths or concentrated outbreaks. However, there has been a slight increase in the past 3 weeks.
Proactively prevent Covid-19
The Da Nang City Health Department recommends that people follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health to proactively prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.
Accordingly, people need to wear masks in public places, on public transport, at medical facilities; wash hands regularly with clean water, soap or antiseptic solution; limit gathering in crowded places if not necessary; increase physical activity, training, and proper nutrition.
Notably, people coming to and returning from countries with high numbers of Covid-19 cases need to proactively monitor their health status to prevent and control the disease for themselves, their families and close contacts.
Dr. Vo Thu Tung, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Health, said that he has directed the Da Nang Center for Disease Control (CDC) to strengthen monitoring of the Covid-19 epidemic in the community, medical facilities, border gates, and schools; proactively guide the handling of suspected cases; and ensure adequate supplies, medicines, and equipment to fight the epidemic.
