Da Nang recommends preventing and fighting Covid-19 epidemic during the summer

On May 19, the Department of Health of Da Nang city sent a document to departments, branches, associations and People's Committees of districts in the area, recommending to strengthen prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic.

This move comes as the Covid-19 epidemic situation in Thailand and some Southeast Asian countries shows signs of increasing.

According to information from the Ministry of Health , from January 1 to May 10, Thailand recorded 53,676 Covid-19 infections and 16 deaths, mainly due to the Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.16.

In Vietnam, the number of Covid-19 cases recorded is more than 150 cases scattered in some provinces and cities, no deaths and no concentrated outbreaks. However, the number of cases has tended to increase slightly in the past 3 weeks.

According to the announcement of the Da Nang City Department of Health, Covid-19 has been identified as a disease circulating in Vietnam. It is forecasted that new cases may be recorded in the coming time, especially during the peak summer tourist season in Da Nang and other localities.

On that basis, the Da Nang City Department of Health recommends that relevant units guide officials, civil servants, workers and people to proactively wear masks in public places, on public transport and at medical facilities.

Wash your hands frequently with clean water, soap or antiseptic solution. Limit gathering in crowded places if not necessary.

Increase physical activity, physical training, and proper nutrition. Monitor your health and go to a medical facility immediately if you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.

People coming to and returning from countries with a high number of Covid-19 cases need to proactively monitor their health status; proactively update the epidemic situation and official recommendations from the Ministry of Health, Department of Health and specialized agencies.
