In the Ly Son fishing port area, large waves peeled off many concrete slabs, causing 7 km of embankment around the island to collapse and some roads to be covered with rocks and soil. Two fishing boats were severely damaged by the waves, and two fish cages were completely destroyed. The Dinh Ba Thuy Long relic in An Hai commune also had its fence collapsed. The total damage to the entire special zone is estimated at about 50 billion VND.
Mr. Tran Van Quang, a fisherman in An Vinh commune, said that waves 6 to 7 meters high had broken the fishing boat, causing serious damage. This morning, the special zone government mobilized armed forces and people to clear rocks and soil, clear traffic routes and support households that suffered heavy damage.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Economic Zone, said that the locality is focusing on directing functional forces to clear sand and soil and support people to overcome the consequences caused by big waves and high tides.
Currently, recovery work is still being urgently deployed to help Ly Son people stabilize their lives, restore production and bring the island back to normal .
