Hanoi University of Science and Technology pays talented young lecturers from 40 to 150 million VND/month

This is the remuneration policy for lecturers proposed by Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the Project to attract and recruit talented young lecturers, experts, and leading scientists in the period 2025 - 2030 (HUST-Talent).

Sharing at the seminar on Breakthrough policies to attract talents in higher education , science - technology and innovation, on the morning of November 4, Prof. Dr. Vu Van Yem - Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology - said that higher education institutions are the "cradle" that produces human knowledge, the "heart" of the human resource training system.

According to him, in reality, many universities in Vietnam are facing a serious shortage of leading lecturers, with the proportion of lecturers with professor qualifications at 0.89% in the entire system, associate professors at 7.8%; the number of lecturers with doctoral qualifications according to 2024 data is 33%.

In addition, many young talents and good Vietnamese experts are working abroad and want to return but do not have the conditions or suitable policies. "Building a special mechanism to attract and retain talent is an urgent requirement for the development of Vietnamese universities," said Mr. Yem.

Also at the conference, Mr. Yem announced the Project to attract and recruit talented young lecturers, experts, and leading scientists in the period 2025-2030 (HUST-Talent) of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The project aims to improve the quality of training and scientific research, contributing to bringing Hanoi University of Science and Technology into the Top 150 universities in Asia by 2030.

Accordingly, the talents targeted in the project are, firstly, talented young PhDs graduating from top universities in the world or PhDs with outstanding scientific research achievements holding lecturer positions.

The number of people needed to recruit is 137 (focusing mainly on strategic technology industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy technology, materials technology, biotechnology...).

The second is professors, associate professors, technology experts from businesses, research institutes, start-ups, research lab heads, research team leaders. The number of people needed to attract both domestically and internationally is 72.

Third are scientists, leading experts, prestigious domestic and international managers, invited lecturers, experts, senior consultants, numbering 172 people.

According to Mr. Yem, the project participants will receive preferential salary in the first 3 years, be sponsored for research topics and supported to register to participate in international topics and projects; have a modern research environment; and have a development roadmap built...

In particular, enjoy HustCare health insurance policy, support for relatives, housing, visa, and administrative support.

Policy for lecturers, salary can range from 40 - 150 million/month for young PhD lecturers, depending on capacity and position; for research laboratory heads, research team leaders, can receive salary from 60 - 200 million/month.

According to Mr. Yem, the expected result by 2030 is to attract and recruit at least 300 domestic and foreign talents.

Currently, the team of highly qualified staff and lecturers of Hanoi University of Science and Technology has nearly 900 PhDs, over 300 professors and associate professors.

Recently, many higher education institutions in Vietnam have implemented projects to attract and retain talent, such as Ho Chi Minh City National University implementing the VNU350 program to attract, retain and develop outstanding young scientists and leading scientists.

Many other higher education institutions (public and private) have policies to attract PhDs, associate professors, and professors; many provinces/cities attract talents, especially professors and PhDs to develop science and technology such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Lam Dong, etc.

Previously, Hanoi University of Science and Technology implemented a project to attract and recruit excellent lecturers for the period 2021 - 2025.
