On November 7, the Institute of Digital Training and Testing, Hanoi National University officially informed about the organization of the HSA competency assessment exam in 2026.
Accordingly, candidates taking the HSA competency assessment test will create an exam account from November 25 to December 27, 2025.
Hanoi National University noted that candidates can only choose one exam session in each exam period. The system will open for candidates to choose a second exam session if there are still seats available according to the exam scale. However, last year, no candidate was able to register for two exam sessions because after the first registration period, all exam slots were full.
"The exam registration period may end earlier when all the exam seats have been booked. The system only allows an account to log in and operate on one computer device at the same time," noted the Institute of Digital Training and Testing.
This year, 6 HSA competency assessment exams are scheduled to take place from March 7 to May 24 in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh ... Notably, the total number of exam takers is about 120,000 (20,000 exams per session), an increase of more than 30,000 exams compared to last year.
The exam fee is 600,000 VND/candidate/exam and is non-refundable for any reason once paid. Candidates must pay the fee online within 96 hours of completing the exam registration.

Exam schedule in some localities
The HSA exam is taken on a computer, lasting 195 minutes and consisting of three sections, including two compulsory sections in the areas of mathematics and number processing (50 questions, 75 minutes) and literature and language (50 questions, 60 minutes).
In the third part (50 questions, 60 minutes), candidates choose between science or English.

Last year, the average score of nearly 90,000 candidates taking the competency assessment test after 6 rounds was 78.8/150, an increase of more than 2 points compared to 2024.
Currently, about 100 universities use HSA test results for university admission.
