The Embassy of Vietnam in Kuwait organized a Business Forum and celebrated the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Trade Agreement between the two countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang affirmed that after 30 years, the Vietnam-Kuwait Trade Agreement still plays an important role and is a bridge to promote trade relations between the two countries.

On May 25, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait solemnly held a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Kuwait Trade Agreement (May 1995-May 2025) and a Business Dialogue to propose solutions to promote more effective cooperation between businesses of the two countries.

Attending the Ceremony, on the Kuwait side, there were Mr. Abdulmohsen Ali Alattar, Director of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Kuwait; representatives of Kuwaiti government agencies such as the Ministry of Finance , Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 70 representatives from businesses in many fields, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce, and press agencies in Kuwait.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Dr. Nguyen Duc Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to Kuwait; Head of the Vietnamese Trade Office in Kuwait; and a number of Vietnamese enterprises operating in Kuwait and the Middle East.

The event was also attended by ASEAN Ambassadors in Kuwait and representatives of businesses from several ASEAN countries.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Duc Thang affirmed that after more than 30 years, the Vietnam-Kuwait Trade Agreement still plays an important role and is a bridge to promote trade relations between the two countries.

Statistics show that Kuwait is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in the GCC region and Vietnam's 19th largest trading partner in the world . In 2024, bilateral trade turnover will reach 7.33 billion USD, an increase of 24% compared to 2023.

Many of Vietnam’s key export products, which meet Halal standards, are available in Kuwait, such as rice, coffee, cashew nuts, fresh fruits (coconut, lemon, dragon fruit, mango, custard apple, star apple, banana, rambutan, etc.) and frozen seafood (shrimp, pomfret, tuna, basa fish, etc.). In addition, there are also wooden products and furniture, electronics and some types of machinery components.

In the opposite direction, Vietnam is also one of Kuwait's leading trade partners in Southeast Asia. Kuwait supplies crude oil, crude oil products, and important chemicals to Vietnam.

At the Ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Kuwait - the partner signing the Vietnam-Kuwait Trade Agreement, Mr. Abdulmohsen Ali Alattar also affirmed that the Trade Agreement signed in 1995 was a fundamental milestone to strengthen bilateral economic relations, contributing to creating the first legal framework for the flow of goods, services and investment as well as the positive results achieved by the two countries in recent times.

As two partners with a history of close friendship, Mr. Abdulmohsen expressed his belief that the two countries still have much potential and opportunities for cooperation not only in the field of trade but also in other fields such as investment, tourism, and energy.

Also within the series of activities to celebrate this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait successfully organized a Business Dialogue and exchange between Vietnamese enterprises, companies from ASEAN countries and business partners in Kuwait.

In the open discussion, many businesses operating in Kuwait such as Lulu Group, Ambassador Multi-industry Group, Starfruit Fruit Import Company, PACE Construction Company, KDD Food Company, ITL Tourism Company... and some businesses from ASEAN countries operating in Kuwait such as Apytz, Ramaco of Malaysia, LBC of the Philippines... shared their experiences, needs for finding partners, product lines, and some issues to note when doing business and penetrating the Kuwaiti market.

Representatives of these businesses also made many suggestions to expand the field of cooperation and proposed some specific measures for the Embassy and Trade Office of Vietnam in Kuwait to continue guiding Vietnamese businesses doing business in Kuwait in the future.

Delegates attended the seminar and exchanged business experiences in the Kuwait market.

On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait displayed a number of photos and clips introducing the business and investment environment in Vietnam and important achievements in political, economic and trade relations between the two countries in recent times.

The Embassy also organized an exhibition area to introduce typical Vietnamese export products to Kuwait and received much attention from guests, import and distribution businesses of Kuwait attending the event.

A publication introducing Vietnam's Halal potential was prepared by the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait for the event.

The 30th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Kuwait Trade Agreement was a great success. This is also an important event towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Kuwait in January 2026.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait will continue to closely coordinate with Kuwaiti agencies, ministries and sectors as well as continue to accompany and support Vietnamese enterprises in exploring the market, connecting and signing agreements in potential fields with Kuwaiti enterprises, contributing to the further development of economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.
