From November 19-21, General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defence , led a high-level delegation to attend the 18th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM), the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM+), and informal meetings between ASEAN-China and ASEAN-US Defence Ministers in Vientiane, Laos.

The trip was at the invitation of General Chansamone Chanyalath, Member of the Political Bureau of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Laos.
Through these conferences, Vietnam is continuing to affirm its role as an active, proactive, and responsible member of ASEAN in general, and in ASEAN's defense and military cooperation channel in particular, contributing to promoting defense cooperation within ASEAN as well as between ASEAN and its partners in an increasingly substantive and effective manner.
