Dak Lak: Ensuring safety for people as storm No. 13 is approaching the shore

On the morning of November 6, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Cao Thi Hoa An inspected the landslide situation on Bach Dang embankment and storm response work at Tuy Hoa market, requesting localities to proactively prepare plans to prevent and combat storm No. 13, and to ensure the safety of people's lives and property above all else.

According to a report from the People's Committee of Tuy Hoa Ward, 149/149 local fishing boats have been called and guided to safe shelters and anchored properly. The locality requires contractors to have plans to ensure safety and prevent landslides on the Bach Dang embankment. At the same time, they are ready to evacuate people in this area to safe shelters.

Tuy Hoa Ward has also prepared and classified available equipment and materials such as: 4 rafts, 5 canoes, 1 truck, 5 cars, 19 motorbikes... to serve in situations of storms, floods, inundation and landslides.

The ward has established shock teams to support the evacuation of residents in high-risk areas. In the ward, there are 326 households with 1,232 people subject to mandatory evacuation. As of the morning of November 6, the ward is still continuing to evacuate residents to safe locations...

At the Bach Dang embankment landslide area, the delegation inspected a landslide section about 150m long, which has occurred for more than two years and is becoming more and more serious due to frequent hits by large waves.

After hearing the report, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Cao Thi Hoa An requested Tuy Hoa ward to urgently deploy barriers and prohibit people and vehicles from passing through the landslide area to ensure safety.

Next, comrade Cao Thi Hoa An went to Tuy Hoa market to inspect storm prevention work and encouraged traders to proactively respond to complicated weather conditions.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council kindly visited and reminded people to raise goods and move furniture in low-lying areas to safer places to limit damage when heavy rain and strong winds occur.

At the same time, it is emphasized that local authorities at all levels need to closely coordinate with market management boards, regularly update weather information, and proactively develop plans to ensure the safety of people and property at the market in all situations...

Also in the morning of the same day, comrade Cao Thi Hoa An continued to inspect and examine key points, areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods and low-lying areas at risk of deep flooding in Tuy An Tay commune.

At the checkpoints, Comrade Cao Thi Hoa An listened to local leaders quickly report on the plans that have been deployed, the plan to evacuate people, the preparation of forces, vehicles, materials and on-site logistics. She paid special attention to informing and warning people and the plan to protect public works and the vital traffic system of the commune.

After the actual inspection, comrade Cao Thi Hoa An praised the proactiveness of the Party Committee and the government of Tuy An Tay commune, and emphasized that the safety of people's lives and property must be put first and foremost. Absolutely do not be subjective or negligent in any situation. Information and propaganda work must be carried out continuously to help people clearly understand the level of danger of the storm.

It is necessary to ensure that the evacuation site has adequate medical , food and food supplies.

The commune police and military forces must maintain 24/7 combat duty, ready to mobilize forces and means to carry out rescue missions when ordered. Closely coordinate with superior units to ensure smooth communication.

Localities also need to prepare plans to overcome the consequences of the storm, including stabilizing people's lives, repairing infrastructure, environmental sanitation, and disease prevention.
