Dak Nong aims for a closed aluminum production chain

To achieve this goal, in the short term, Dak Nong will continue to invest in developing the alumina production industry based on the effective exploitation of bauxite resources towards completing the bauxite - alumina - aluminum value chain. In the immediate future, the province will develop the bauxite - aluminum chain in combination with supporting industries.

Dak Nong province's planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, emphasizes industry as the driving force for growth, turning Dak Nong into a bauxite - aluminum industrial center.

For the in-depth development of bauxite and aluminum products, the locality will invest in upgrading the capacity of Nhan Co Alumina Factory in the coming period. The province will complete infrastructure and resolve related procedures to put the aluminum production project of Tran Hong Quan Enterprise into operation, soon producing aluminum and post-aluminum products.

Completion of procedures and putting new bauxite - alumina - aluminum projects and other related projects into operation will be calculated.

Dak Nong increases investment attraction, builds and develops supporting industries for the post-aluminum manufacturing industry and post-aluminum products, gradually turning Dak Nong province into a national aluminum industrial center.

Regarding the processing of aluminum bauxite ore, in the period of 2021 - 2030, the locality will invest in increasing the capacity of Nhan Co Alumina Plant from 650,000 tons/year to 800,000 tons/year.

Dak Nong aims to invest in Dak Nong 2 Alumina Plant in Dak Glong District, with a capacity of 1.5 - 2 million tons/year. During this period, Dak Nong will invest in Dak Nong 3, Dak Nong 4 and Dak Nong 5 alumina plants in parallel.

In the period of 2021-2030, Dak Nong will invest in increasing the capacity of Nhan Co alumina factories from 650,000 tons/year to 800,000 tons/year.

After 2030, depending on market consumption capacity, the province will consider investing in expanding and increasing the capacity of Nhan Co, Dak Nong 2, Dak Nong 3, Dak Nong 4, Dak Nong 5 alumina projects.

Regarding the aluminum electrolysis complex, Dak Nong strives to complete the installation and put into production the Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant, with a capacity of 0.3 million tons of aluminum metal/year. The locality uses alumina from factories in the region to develop into aluminum products.

Dak Nong invests in 1-2 new aluminum metal production projects, associated with self-investment, ensuring raw material sources. Total expected capacity is from 450,000 - 900,000 tons/year.

Along with aluminum development, other supporting industries such as energy industry, agricultural and forestry processing industry, and potential industries will be focused on investment by Dak Nong. All are aimed at a fast and sustainable industrial development.

Regarding the energy industry, Dak Nong promotes development, in which priority is given to developing wind power and solar power in conjunction with the national power development plan. Using modern technology towards green growth, sustainable development, and environmental protection.

For potential industries such as mining industry, construction materials industry, mechanical industry, etc., Dak Nong maintains and ensures the capacity of projects. Factories are encouraged to innovate mining technology. Improving product quality will be emphasized.

Dak Nong completes the procedures and puts the new bauxite-aluminum-aluminum project complexes into operation and will be calculated.

Along with supporting industries, Dak Nong cooperates with other localities in the region to transfer technology and invest in development to serve the aluminum bauxite industry and the Central Highlands region.

The province coordinates production activities of enterprises producing bauxite, aluminum, metallurgy, energy industry and supporting industry in the area.

Developing the bauxite - aluminum - metallurgy industry and energy serving industry is the main pillar for the future development of Dak Nong.

According to Acting Director of Dak Nong Department of Finance Tran Dinh Ninh, during the development process, the province focuses on attracting projects for bauxite mining, aluminum production, and post-aluminum products.

Dak Nong expands new investment in bauxite mining and alumina production projects in accordance with its natural resource potential and specific socio -economic conditions.

Attracting investment, especially foreign investment with strong potential in post-aluminum processing projects, with modern technology, without causing environmental pollution will be prioritized by the province. Dak Nong encourages businesses and organizations to research and invest in red mud treatment technology and red mud recycling.

The issue of land reclamation and effective land use plans after reclamation, environmental protection, and minimizing the impact of bauxite - aluminum production on the environment and people in the region will be focused on.

The system of auxiliary product complexes for the aluminum production industry in the area will be promoted,” said Mr. Ninh.

Regarding land, land lease procedures, and land prices for investment projects in the bauxite, aluminum, and post-aluminum industries, Dak Nong will give priority.

Localities focus on providing integrated, comprehensive public administrative services for important investment projects, to facilitate investors.
