On the evening of July 10, the special concert The Light of Melody took place at Ho Guom Theater, opening a series of art events on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the theater's inauguration (July 9, 2023 - July 9, 2025), towards the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection. The program was directed and implemented by the Department of Political Work ( Ministry of Public Security ).

The concert featured three famous voices on the world opera stage: Marcelo Álvarez (Argentina), Kathryn Lewek (USA) and Joseph Calleja (Malta). Vietnamese artists performing in the program included: People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Conductor Tran Nhat Minh, Hanoi Symphony Orchestra, Phuong Nam Choir and Gio Xanh Choir.
The Light of Melody is a musical journey that takes listeners through the masterpieces of great composers such as: Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, Giordano... A miniature picture of the history of world opera is recreated, rich in emotion and color, from the passionate romance of Italy, the charm of Spain to the grandeur and sophistication of Russian music.

Appearing on stage, Marcelo Álvarez - one of the most highly regarded tenors today - conquered the audience with his strong, powerful voice and emotional performance style.
Born in Córdoba (Argentina), Marcelo Álvarez was discovered by legendary singer Giuseppe Di Stefano and guided to pursue a professional opera career.
He made his European debut at the La Fenice Theatre (Venice) in La Sonnambula . Initially, Marcelo Álvarez distinguished himself in works of the Belcanto style and French opera, then gradually moved to powerful roles in works by Verismo and Verdi.
His brilliant career has taken him to most of the famous stages such as: Royal Opera House (London), Metropolitan Opera House (New York), Paris Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich), Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires), Teatro Real (Madrid)... and has been welcomed by audiences at many of the world's leading music festivals.

With a powerful voice, wide range and skillful technique, American soprano Kathryn Lewek leaves a strong impression with her delicate and precise high notes.
She is especially famous for her role as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute - a role that helped her set a record for the number of performances at the Metropolitan Opera House (New York).
Not only successful with her signature roles, Kathryn Lewek is also praised as one of the outstanding sopranos thanks to her ability to connect with audiences and her captivating stage presence. She regularly appears at prestigious opera houses and music festivals such as the Salzburg Festival (Austria) or the Metropolitan Opera (USA).
Meanwhile, singer Joseph Calleja brings an emotional performance style, captivating the audience from the first verses. With his characteristic lyrical voice, he is compared to legends Jussi Björling, Beniamino Gigli or Enrico Caruso.
Born in Malta in 1978, Calleja began singing at the age of 16 and made his professional operatic debut at the age of 19 as Macduff in Macbeth at the Astra Theatre (Malta). His career quickly took off after winning prestigious competitions such as the Hans Gabor Belvedere, Caruso Competition (1998) and Operalia (1999) - the same year he made his US debut at the Spoleto Festival.
Not only successful in performing, Joseph Calleja also released many diverse opera albums and regularly appeared at major theaters and music festivals around the world.

Besides international artists, the performance of People's Artist Bui Cong Duy and Vietnamese artists left their own mark, showing the harmony between world classical art and domestic talent.
Held at the art space of Ho Guom Theater, The Light of Melody is not only a concert, but also a cultural event that contributes to honoring the pinnacle of artistic values, spreading the spirit of integration, and connecting cultures between Vietnam and international friends.
