Innovation in tourism
The scientific workshop “Intellectual Property - Platform to promote innovation and sustainable development of Binh Thuan green tourism ecosystem” organized by the Department of Science and Technology recently mentioned that registering for intellectual property protection helps tourism build trust with customers and bring tourism brands to the national and international level. Many famous domestic tourism products have built success thanks to their own brand names, such as “Mui Ne” of Phan Thiet. At the above scientific forum, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh emphasized 3 key contents that need to be promoted for innovation and sustainable development of Binh Thuan's green tourism ecosystem: "That is, intellectual property is the foundation for developing an innovative ecosystem in tourism; helping to form new products, new models such as community tourism, craft village tourism, eco-tourism associated with culture, OCOP products. Exploiting intellectual property types such as certification marks, geographical indications, industrial designs, business secrets will form green value chains, in which businesses, communities, and tourists benefit together, developing sustainably. The application of intellectual property associated with digital transformation, modern marketing, and local brand positioning strategies will help Binh Thuan become a prominent destination in terms of landscape, demonstrating creativity, unique culture, and a profound tourism brand".



Tourism product brand protection
Along with that, MSc. Tran Giang Khue, Head of Office, Southern Office introduced policies and regulations on intellectual property in the tourism sector; the important role of intellectual property in protecting tourism products, promoting innovation and sustainable development of the green tourism innovation startup ecosystem in Binh Thuan. In recent times, many creative tourism experiences from cultural and life materials have been welcomed by tourists, such as visiting places: Mui Ne fishing village, exploring Suoi Tien to enjoy the specialty of sand lizards, Thien Nghiep coconut, Lang Chai Xua fish sauce museum, Ke Ga lighthouse, Bau Trang... The development of creative tourism in Phan Thiet in particular, Binh Thuan in general has contributed to diversifying and improving the quality of the tourism product system, increasing competitiveness, preserving cultural values, attracting community participation in tourism development. “In traditional craft villages, dragon fruit and durian farms in the province should be encouraged to register for intellectual property protection to develop eco-tourism and orchards. The reality in craft villages and farms shows that trademark protection will help control quality, enhance prestige, maintain reputation, promote trade for products, contribute to increasing product value, create jobs, increase income for producers; at the same time, protect consumer rights, preserve and promote the value of local products, increase local budget revenue, contributing to economic and social development”, shared MSc. Meanwhile, Dr. Pham Thi Hong Phuong, Senior Advisor of the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, went into depth, introducing solutions and strategies for sustainable development of the green tourism ecosystem; analyzed how tourism businesses apply intellectual property to develop new products. Dr. Pham Thi Hong Phuong said that Binh Thuan possesses great potential for eco-tourism and culture, with many typical products such as dragon fruit, Phan Thiet fish sauce, hotpot, dried squid, etc. Strengthening intellectual property protection, combined with digital technology and developing the "green tourism" model is the lever for the locality to increase value, attract investment and develop sustainably. In particular, the issue of the role of intellectual property in maintaining and promoting the cultural values of local tourism, solutions to raise awareness of intellectual property in the tourism community; green tourism model and the issue of developing green tourism in Binh Thuan. This is one of the issues that businesses and people in Binh Thuan are currently interested in.
The leaders of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee affirmed that they will continue to promote institutional improvement, support businesses in registering for intellectual property protection, build green tourism brands and promote digital transformation of the tourism industry in the period of 2025 - 2030.
