On October 14th, speaking with a reporter from Thanh Nien newspaper, Mr. Bui Van Manh, Director of the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism , said that the department had sent professional staff to coordinate with businesses to verify the specific incident of a British tourist insulting and verbally abusing a parking attendant at Thung Nham Tourist Area (Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh).
According to Mr. Mạnh, if the verification process determines that a tourist made inappropriate remarks that affected the reputation and honor of others, the unit will request the competent authority to handle the matter according to regulations.
Mr. Pham Cong Chat, Director of Doanh Sinh Trading and Tourism Services Joint Stock Company (owner of Thung Nham Tourist Area), said that his company's employees are reviewing the security camera system to determine the specific date and time when the incident occurred in which the British tourist insulted the parking attendant.
British tourists used offensive language towards parking attendants at Thung Nham Tourist Area (Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province ).
According to Mr. Chất, the incident occurred between a British tourist and a parking attendant. A language barrier prevented them from understanding each other, which is why the issue wasn't resolved immediately.
"In cases where tourists use offensive language that negatively impacts Vietnamese culture and people, if the ticket counter staff understand English, they will be dealt with immediately according to regulations. However, parking attendants do not understand English," Mr. Chat said.
Previously, as Thanh Nien newspaper reported, in a self-recorded video , a British tourist named Sean visited Thung Nham tourist area. The parking attendant directed Sean to park his motorbike in the designated area because he wanted to park in the car parking zone. However, after parking, he began to verbally abuse and insult the parking attendant.
"You have nothing better to do. I hope your whole family gets shot in the Vietnam War. I hope napalm gets on your children…".
The male parking attendant didn't understand the offensive language and could only respond with "no." Then, the foreign man asked him how many children he had and, without stopping, added: "Check if your children have been exposed to napalm."
The next scene shows the parking attendant collecting 10,000 VND from a customer for parking and discussing the change. The video was posted on Sean's personal YouTube channel but has since been hidden after receiving a strong backlash from many commenters.
Sean's abusive language towards the parking attendant is still circulating on social media, causing public outrage.
