Honda CT125 Review: 125 cc vehicle for special groups

Honda CT125 is on sale for 87.5 million VND in Vietnam, much higher than many popular scooter models. This 125 cc trail model is aimed at players who like bad roads, niche markets, and do not chase sales.

Honda CT125 officially launched in Vietnam with the price of 87.5 million VND. This price puts CT125 outside the popular car playground like Vision, SH or Air Blade and is aimed directly at the group of users who are passionate about exploration and are willing to pay a high price for a car with an off-road personality.

Why the price of 87.5 million VND is not surprising

The CT125 is not the first time Honda has experimented with “fun bikes” in Vietnam. Previously, the MSX 125 and Monkey 125 were priced between 50 and 70 million VND. When the Honda C125 was sold for around 86.2 million VND 4 years ago, the CT125 – the more off-road oriented version – being priced above 85 million VND was almost expected.

In fact, before being officially distributed, CT125 appeared in Vietnam through private import agents with limited quantity and very high price. The first units were advertised for sale at over 150 million VND; the special version Chums once reached 200 million VND. This reflects the real demand of the player group despite the high price barrier.

In Thailand, the CT125 costs about 85,000 Baht (approximately 2,300 USD), which is higher than the average price of a regular car. Therefore, the price of 87.5 million VND when it arrives in Vietnam is appropriate for the context. According to comments recorded on groups of off-road vehicle enthusiasts, some people even said: "I think the price of the car should be more than 90 million VND, because the C125 is already more than 86 million VND."

Positioning: 125 cc trail bike for players

The CT125 is a 125 cc trail bike using a gasoline engine, aimed at experiencing rough, bumpy roads. The design has a more "playful" spirit than Honda's urban scooters. For users who are passionate about traveling on mixed terrain, the price of 40 or 100 million VND is sometimes not a big barrier if the bike meets their needs and personality.

Therefore, CT125 is not aimed at the majority. This is a model suitable for those who travel short distances, drive on country roads, light slopes, and like a difference in appearance. The practical factor of " economic - urban convenience" is not the focus of CT125; spiritual experience is the core value.

Compared to Yamaha PG-1: different philosophy, different expectations

The Yamaha PG-1 and Honda CT125 are often compared when it comes to the amount of attention they generate. However, the product orientation is different. Yamaha is pushing the PG-1 hard for communication and community building to create new sales momentum. With the CT125, Honda seems to be just trying to fill the “fun bike” product range, similar to what it did with the MSX 125 and Monkey 125.

In other words, the CT125 is not a strategic card in terms of production. This model serves a specific user niche, enough for Honda to consolidate its diversified brand image in Vietnam.

User experience: value in personalization

With CT125, buyers pay more for style and functionality suitable for bad roads than for pure urban convenience. Compared to Vision or Air Blade, CT125 does not compete in the areas of convenience - economy - large trunk; instead, the model aims for the feeling of freedom when leaving the good road surface, going into the bumpy roads that ordinary scooters are often hesitant about.

The 125cc engine makes the CT125 easy to get used to by the majority of riders who have used conventional manual transmission vehicles. The main appeal of the CT125 lies in its user “ecosystem”: the community of adventurers and wanderlust, who are willing to pay for a different vehicle, even if the cost of ownership is higher than the average.

Role in Honda portfolio in Vietnam

The CT125 helps Honda's portfolio balance more between popular and "fun" vehicles. Along with the Monkey 125 and MSX 125, this 125 cc trail model will not create a breakthrough in sales but is enough to maintain the brand's appeal among users who are passionate about personality.

Conclude

The Honda CT125 is a niche product, for buyers who know exactly what they want: an off-road oriented 125cc with a distinct personality and are willing to pay 87.5 million VND for a spiritual experience rather than common amenities. In that role, the CT125 does exactly what is expected.
