Liberation of Tuy Phong - a historic turning point
As the northeastern gateway of the province, guarding National Highway 1A - the vital axis connecting the South Central provinces with the Southeast, the liberation of Tuy Phong would become an important springboard to liberate the entire Binh Thuan province. Faced with the rapidly changing situation on all battlefields at that time, especially the Central provinces being continuously liberated. Tuy Phong District Party Committee advocated using the forces of the working team and the forces of the communes, with the uprising of the people, the main force troops attacked and organized takeovers wherever they went. On April 13, 1975, the district's 490th Company attacked Tuy Tinh post and took control of Tuy Tinh Cham and Tuy Tinh Kinh hamlets; the communes of Phan Ri Cua, Chi Cong, Binh Thanh, Phuoc The, Vinh Hao prepared forces to coordinate the liberation and takeover. The main force troops, local army and people blocked the enemy from Ninh Thuan entering along National Highway 1A. After crossing Vinh Hao bridge, the leading troops of the Duyen Hai army were sent by the district forces to welcome and lead the way to liberate Long Huong at 5:00 p.m. on April 17, 1975. The victory on April 17 to liberate Tuy Phong was a strong, fierce, and widespread uprising of all classes of people in the district, contributing to the victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, creating the great victory of the Spring of 1975.

Once a land that suffered many losses due to war, natural disasters, and harsh climate, Tuy Phong entered a period of peace with numerous difficulties. However, Tuy Phong also possesses many development advantages with a strategic geographical location, rich forest and sea resources, large land fund, and abundant human resources. In particular, the district has always received attention from the Central Government and the province, along with the spirit of solidarity and efforts to overcome difficulties of the entire political system and local people. Promoting potential and overcoming difficulties, the Party Committee and People of Tuy Phong have gradually brought the district out of poverty, promoting socio-economic development. From a region with "excess sun, lack of rain", Tuy Phong today is growing strongly, achieving many comprehensive achievements in all fields, affirming its position as a dynamic locality in the North of the province.

The transformation of 3 economic "pillars"
When mentioning Tuy Phong, many people used to assume that this was the "thirstiest" area of the province, with arid land, year-round scorching sun and constant water shortages. With the determination of many generations of district leaders and active support from the Central and the province, the district has gradually invested in completing a large-scale irrigation system: Long Song River, Da Bac Lake, Phan Dung Lake... and a system of intra-field canals. Water is brought everywhere, "awakening" the cracked land, creating stable and effective agricultural cultivation areas. Wherever the water reaches, the fields are covered in green with rice, crops, dragon fruit gardens, grapes, apples full of fruit... The district's agricultural production is developing in the right direction. By the end of 2024, the total food output will reach more than 41,200 tons. Key crops such as grapes and apples are growing strongly; 3-star OCOP products such as Phong Phu apples, Hong Nhat Phuoc The grapes.
The district's economy has been growing steadily. If in 1983, when the district was re-established, the total budget revenue was only 2.7 billion VND, by 2024, this figure had jumped to 355 billion VND, an increase of 132 times. This is an important resource for the district to invest in infrastructure, improve people's lives and create a foundation for sustainable development. Tuy Phong effectively exploits the potential and strengths of the marine economy and energy. The processing industry of aquatic products, mineral water, construction materials, and the outstanding development of renewable energy have contributed positively to the overall economic growth rate of the province.
Transport activities are increasing in quantity and quality; an additional bus route from Phan Rang - Thap Cham - Tuy Phong - Bac Binh - Phan Thiet has been put into operation to serve the travel needs of the people. The transport infrastructure is increasingly developed, many road traffic works have been completed such as: Lien Huong - Binh Thanh - Phan Ri Cua route; Lien Huong - Phan Dung; especially recently the bridge over Phan Dung commune spillway has been completed and put into use, which has an important meaning, promoting socio-economic development, connecting regions, serving production and people's lives.
From a place with scarce goods and poor infrastructure after liberation, Tuy Phong now has a strongly developed trade and service system: markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and gas stations springing up everywhere. Eco-tourism and resorts are developing strongly. The Ta Nang - Phan Dung trekking route, Hon Cau island, Ca Duoc rock beach, Binh Thanh green moss, Co Thach pagoda... are attractive destinations. In 2024, the district will welcome more than 1.65 million visitors. There have been 23 tourism projects approved for investment, with a total registered capital of over 4,500 billion VND. Vinh Tan International Port has been formed by sea transport. A number of major transportation projects passing through the district have been completed, especially the North - South expressway, creating opportunities to attract investment, develop production and business, and continue to promote economic growth in the district.

Aspiration to rise
In addition, the district has focused resources on developing urban and rural infrastructure, mountainous areas, and ethnic minority areas. The National Target Program on New Rural Development has achieved many positive results, with 6/9 communes in the district meeting new rural standards. Ethnic minority areas continue to receive investment in works serving people's livelihoods and socio-economic development; programs such as 134, 135, land allocation projects for production, forest protection contracts, the project "Training cadres and communities in Phan Dung commune" ... contribute to improving people's lives, creating motivation for stable agricultural production development, and increasing income. The fields of education, health care, culture and sports continue to receive investment in facilities, equipment and human resources. In particular, implementing the direction of the Central and the province, in 2025, Tuy Phong is determined to eliminate 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for families of meritorious people and poor and near-poor households. The poverty rate of the whole district by the end of 2024 will decrease to 1.28% (489 households)...
Mr. Tran Sinh Toan - Secretary of Tuy Phong District Party Committee affirmed: “We appreciate, acknowledge and are proud of all the achievements that the army and people of the district have achieved during the 50-year journey of construction and development. However, there are still many difficulties and challenges ahead... However, with the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of solidarity, and the desire to rise up, the Secretary of the District Party Committee calls on all cadres, party members, union members, members of associations, armed forces, businesses and people of the whole district to continue to promote the heroic spirit of Tuy Phong homeland, join hands, overcome difficulties, and be determined to successfully implement the goals of the Resolution of the 9th District Party Congress (term 2020-2025), building Tuy Phong increasingly rich, beautiful, civilized, worthy of the sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers and the trust and love of the people today.
