In particular, the value of processed agricultural products participating in exports during the 2021-2023 period increased by an average of 18.5% per year, exceeding the set target (the target was 12% per year). In 2023, the value of processed agricultural products participating in exports reached US$159.33 million, an increase of 6.42% compared to the same period in 2022; the main export products included: coffee, tea, cassava starch, longan, mango, passion fruit… (the target is to reach over US$166 million by 2025).
Notably, the recovery and expansion of production and business activities, attracting key projects and high-tech agricultural processing plants, have contributed to job creation and increased provincial budget revenue in the 2021-2023 period, achieving the set plan; contributing to reducing the poverty rate in the province from 18.38% in 2020 to 14.41% in 2023. Social security is ensured, the material and spiritual lives of the people are improved, and the lives of people in rural areas are significantly improved…
During the period 2021-2023 and the first five months of 2024, Son La province attracted investment in 11 large-scale agricultural processing projects, including 7 projects that received new investment approval and 4 projects currently awaiting approval (with the goal of attracting an additional 9 factories by 2025).
Specifically, in 2023, the province inaugurated and put into operation the Doveco Son La Vegetable and Fruit Processing Center. This is a complex of agricultural processing plants, producing using modern technology from Italy, Japan, and China, with a total capacity of 50,000 tons of products per year, including production lines for frozen, canned, dried, and other products. Currently, the company is collaborating to develop raw material areas of nearly 12,000 hectares for Queen pineapples, passion fruit, sweet corn, soybeans, spinach, etc.
