In fact, more and more domestic and foreign financial institutions are applying Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards to their investment activities as well as promoting capital for sustainable business activities. Notably, Home Credit provides capital to consumers to promote sustainable consumption, using green and sustainable products.

With a strategy of not only building individual development goals, financial institutions also join forces to move towards a common message for sustainable development. Along with that, Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam, Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company, Home Credit Vietnam Digital Finance Company - 3 large corporations in the banking, insurance, and consumer finance industries have been and are joining together towards a pioneering message for a sustainable development future.

Home Credit, since its presence in Vietnam in 2008, has been on a journey of sustainable development for more than 15 years, always going hand in hand with the goal of helping people take control of their lives and live happily as expected. The sustainable development strategy and ESG policy aim to systematize and strengthen the relationship between the business and its customers, community, employees and related partners.

This is the foundation for Home Credit to continuously reap sweet fruits: serving more than 15 million customers; attracting 300,000 new customers every month, gathering more than 6,000 employees; building a network of more than 11,000 retail partners; maintaining bad debt below the standard of 3%, the level prescribed by the State Bank of Vietnam .

At Home Credit, in addition to the goal of business development, the group continuously invests in activities to improve corporate governance, protect the environment and support the community, aiming for sustainable development. “ESG” is the focus of Home Credit’s commitment to responsible business.

About Standard Chartered, the bank has been operating in Vietnam since 1904 when it established its first branch in Saigon. Standard Chartered has been a strong partner in ESG and sustainable finance, focusing on helping clients transition and decarbonize. The bank aims to increase its sustainable finance assets to over US$13 billion by 2022, growing at a rate of 30% year-on-year.

With more than 30 sustainable finance products and a team of 100 senior experts in many fields of sustainable development applications, Standard Chartered is always a trusted partner for clients at different stages of their ESG journey through the most innovative services and products in the fields of sustainable finance, transformation finance, blended finance and carbon markets.

Similarly, sustainable development is also a long-term goal that Prudential always pursues. 2023 marks the 175th anniversary of the establishment of Prudential Group, currently serving more than 18 million customers across markets in Asia and Africa.

In Vietnam, Prudential is committed to supporting the Vietnamese government in its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 by becoming one of the financial institutions taking action under the Just Energy Transition (JETP) agreement.

On August 30, Prudential Group launched its new purpose motto “For every life - For every future”, demonstrating its mission to become the most trusted companion and protector for today's and future generations by providing simple, accessible financial and health protection solutions, as well as a sustainable development orientation for the future.

The theme of “Sustainable Development” was also the focus throughout the UK Festival that all three companies participated in recently. Specifically, on September 9-10, the British Embassy in Vietnam organized the UK Festival at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Hanoi. After Hanoi, the UK Festival will be present in Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 and in Da Nang on October 16.

With a range of exciting activities, the festival offers a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the UK’s contributions and deep links with Vietnam. Attendees can visit the festival’s education booths, which showcase leading academic programmes from outstanding representatives of 20 UK universities and organisations.

In the field of education, the UK is one of the top destinations for Vietnamese students. In addition, the two countries have been developing cooperation in the fields of climate change response, sustainable development and renewable energy.
