
Assessing the sports movement, Mr. Do The Cong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, informed: To promote the sports movement in schools, the Department has developed a specific program to effectively implement the contents of the joint agreement with the Department of Education and Training on developing the movement and improving the quality of physical education in schools over a 5-year period. In addition, the two departments coordinate to organize annual sports competitions for students in subjects such as chess; youth swimming; ethnic sports; taekwondo; athletics; badminton; table tennis... Thereby, promoting the physical training movement and promptly detecting students with sports talents for training and nurturing.
Up to now, 100% of kindergartens and general education institutions have fully implemented the content and curriculum of physical education subjects according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; 95% of general education institutions organize sports activities through extracurricular hours and after-school activities; 98% of students are tested and assessed for physical fitness according to age; over 95% of students participate in regular sports practice at schools. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to test and issue certificates of completion of the swimming universalization program for 900 primary and secondary school students in Moc Chau district (old).

To create a useful playground, in mid-October, Son La Medical College organized the traditional "Sports and Culture Month", attracting more than 1,200 athletes and actors who are staff, lecturers and students in the school.
Ms. Lo Thi Kieu, Vice Principal of Son La Medical College, said: The Culture - Sports Month took place enthusiastically with strength and collective competitions such as: Volleyball, tug of war and individual strength competitions such as: Pole Pushing. Towards the Phu Dong Provincial Sports Festival in 2026 and to celebrate the holidays of the province and the country, high schools in the province also actively organize sports activities, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, encouraging the spirit of physical training among students.
To Hieu High School, To Hieu Ward, is organizing the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the school level, attracting nearly 500 students to register to compete in the following sports: badminton, football, athletics, chess, pole pushing... At the venues of badminton and football matches, many students participated in cheering and encouraging the athletes, making each match more exciting. As for athletics, the students compete mainly in individual events, in the following events: running distances, long jump, high jump... most of the athletes participating in the competition have invested in training, so their techniques have improved a lot, achieving high results.
Student Luu Thien Minh, class 11A7, To Hieu High School, shared: I am very passionate about sports, so I registered to compete in badminton in 2 categories: men's singles and men's doubles and I won first prize. After this tournament, I continued to take advantage of my time to balance between studying and practicing to enter the next rounds.

Not only organizing popular sports, schools also pay attention to including ethnic sports in competitions. Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen, Principal of Song Ma High School, said: The school has nearly 2,000 students who are children of the following ethnic groups: Kinh, Thai, Mong, Sinh Mun, Kho Mu and Tay. In recent years, the school has not only paid attention to improving the quality of physical education, but also promoted the sports movement among students. At the end of October, the school organized competitions in ethnic sports for all students in the school, with the following subjects: stick pushing, tug of war, crossbow shooting. Helping students entertain after stressful school hours, promoting the sports movement, and receiving enthusiastic responses from students. The lively and exciting atmosphere motivates students to study and practice. Encouraging students to practice sports will help them develop comprehensively in "Morality - Intelligence - Fitness - Aesthetics".

Promoting sports activities among students has contributed to reducing the rate of students suffering from school diseases and strengthening cohesion. It can be seen that the sports movement in schools is increasingly interested and goes into depth, with the participation of many levels of education.
