At a conference organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association , the Ha Tinh Journalists Association reported on the results of implementing the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in media agencies in the province over the past period.

The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ms. Vu Thi Ha, Head of the Association Affairs Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association; and Mr. Tran Minh Ngoc, President of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association and Director of the Nghe An Provincial Radio and Television Station.

Continuing the conference program, on the afternoon of October 5th, in Vinh City (Nghe An province), the Vietnam Journalists Association held a preliminary review of one year of the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies and provided guidance on implementing the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association; and summarized the work of managing members who are reporters of press agencies permanently stationed in localities.

Attending the conference were Mr. Tong Van Thanh, Director of the Press and Publishing Department (Central Propaganda Department); representatives of the leadership of journalists' associations from provinces and cities; and leaders of press agencies in the Central and Central Highlands regions.

Attending the conference from the Ha Tinh delegation were the Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Nguyen Xuan Hai; the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Vo Xuan Bau; the Editor-in-Chief of Ha Tinh Newspaper, Nguyen Cong Thanh; and representatives from several press agencies based in the area.

In implementing the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies, over the past year, provincial and city journalists' associations have actively carried out the movement, organizing emulation launching ceremonies and signing emulation agreements within emulation clusters, branches, and journalist clubs and affiliated media professionals.

Ms. Vu Thi Ha, Head of the Association Affairs Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, reported on the preliminary review at the conference.

At the same time, strengthen the inclusion of journalistic culture content in association meetings, conferences, seminars, and forums; link the building of a cultural environment with the content of political, ethical, professional, and vocational training and development; and enhance the sense of responsibility in the "mission of a writer" with "a clear mind, sharp pen, and pure heart."

Through the implementation of the emulation movement, many press agencies and associations at all levels have made positive changes in both awareness and action. Many press agencies have identified prominent and urgent issues to focus on resolving, such as: rectifying discipline and work ethics, promptly correcting inappropriate statements on social media by some journalists.

According to Vo Xuan Bau, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial Journalists Association: Closely following the directives and guidelines from higher levels, directly from the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Ha Tinh Journalists Association chaired a conference and organized the signing of a competition agreement on "Building a cultural environment in press agencies" between the Ha Tinh Journalists Association Office, Ha Tinh Newspaper, Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station, and Hong Linh Magazine.

Regarding the implementation of Decision No. 979-QD/HNBVN dated April 6, 2018, on the activities of resident reporters in localities, over the past five years, provincial and city journalists' associations have processed the admission of 1,021 resident reporter members; proactively coordinating with competent authorities to review and ascertain the number and summary list of resident reporters in their localities.

In addition, 27 provincial and city journalists' associations have established 37 resident reporter branches; 36 provincial and city journalists' associations have accepted 121 resident reporter members to participate in activities with their office branches; and 25 journalists' branches under the Vietnam Journalists Association have introduced 181 resident reporter members from media agencies to contact and participate in activities with local journalists' associations.

Mr. Doan Anh Kiet, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Phu Yen Provincial Journalists Association, presented his remarks at the conference.

Decision No. 979-QD/HNBVN has facilitated the work of local journalists' associations in managing, inspecting, and supervising the activities of their resident reporters, creating a positive transformation and achieving very important results. It has contributed to limiting activities beyond control and promptly protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members; promoting the development of Vietnamese journalism and building a strong association.

At the conference, delegates analyzed and clarified the outstanding results, shortcomings, and limitations in the implementation of the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies and the journalistic activities of resident reporters. Delegates also proposed solutions and recommendations for more effective implementation of emulation movements and leadership documents of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Tong Van Thanh, Director of the Press and Publishing Department, delivered a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Director of the Press and Publishing Department Tong Van Thanh emphasized the important role of press agencies in social life, especially in the context of the current information explosion and digital transformation.

Comrade Tong Van Thanh suggested that in the coming time, the Vietnam Journalists Association should continue to promote the role of the association, continue to guide and urge all levels of associations and branches to implement emulation movements, especially the movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies, ensuring it achieves its goals and meaning; continue to incorporate criteria into the emulation criteria of all levels of associations and branches, and regularly evaluate, promptly reward, and replicate exemplary models and good practices. Through this, it should foster public trust in the press and enhance the cultural value in journalistic works and activities.

Comrade Tong Van Thanh also emphasized the contents related to the implementation of the charter and regulations and decisions of the Vietnam Journalists Association; and requested that branches, levels of associations, and press agencies seriously and effectively implement them.
