BTO-That was the statement of Delegate Nguyen Huu Thong - Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Binh Thuan province on giving comments on socio -economic development in 2023 and the first months of 2024 on the morning of May 29 at the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly.
In the context of extremely difficult domestic and international situations, under the flexible management and close direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches and localities have focused on synchronously and effectively implementing socio-economic development solutions in 2023 and the first months of 2024. Vietnam continues to be a bright spot in the not-so-bright picture of the world economy, making an important contribution to the country's development in all aspects and has been recognized and highly appreciated by voters, people and the business community.
However, according to the Government's assessment report as well as the National Assembly Economic Committee's review report, there are currently many socio-economic issues arising, affecting the general mood of the whole society, causing voters and people across the country to be concerned, concerned, worried, and recommend the Government, the Prime Minister and ministries and branches to pay attention. The number of businesses withdrawing from the market is increasing, in 2023, 172.6 thousand businesses withdrew from the market, an increase of 20.5% compared to 2022. In the first 4 months of 2024, more than 86.3 thousand businesses withdrew from the market, an increase of 12.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Whether a country is prosperous or not depends on the growth of its businesses. With the current situation of businesses withdrawing from the market, it is worth pondering why?
Delegate Thong analyzed the reasons, due to the unstable world situation affecting import and export orders of enterprises. Low capital absorption capacity, eroded resilience, reaching the limit after the COVID-19 pandemic. Lack of synchronization of legal policies and especially cumbersome administrative procedures with many levels are also the reasons leading to business dissolution.
Therefore, it is recommended that the Government have solutions such as: Strengthening trade promotion, diversifying export markets; supporting businesses to overcome labor shortages; researching and developing policies to increase access to and absorption of capital for businesses, especially newly established businesses, small and medium enterprises; proactively and promptly implementing effective solutions to improve the business environment, cut administrative procedures, reduce costs, and reduce risks for businesses. Removing obstacles related to land issues, especially the issue of determining specific land prices.
In addition, the lives of a segment of the population are still difficult, especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, border areas, and islands. The overload situation in some upper-level hospitals has not been completely resolved. The lack of medicine and medical equipment still occurs locally in some localities. The number of untrained workers is still high, and the problem of high-tech fraud is still widespread, which are issues that voters and people are extremely concerned and worried about.
From another perspective, Delegate Nguyen Huu Thong raised the urgent and timely issue of fraud in cyberspace. “The delegates sitting here have at least a few times received calls from strange phone numbers, annoying them from advertising companies or fraudulent calls pretending to be officials of this agency or that organization, asking for this or that. And in reality, many people, including civil servants, have been scammed out of huge sums of money. In the past, functional agencies such as the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Information and Communications have resolutely dealt with the above subjects using professional and technical measures. However, up to now, this situation has not been thoroughly handled. Therefore, we request the Government to direct functional sectors to have truly effective solutions to overcome the above situation”...
