Beware of flash floods and landslides in 5 provinces and cities in the Central region

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on November 3, the provinces and cities from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai will continue to have rain and the risk of flash floods and landslides in the above areas.

Specifically, the common accumulated rainfall in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri is from 20-50mm, some places over 90mm; Hue city and Da Nang city from 60-100mm, some places over 200mm; Quang Ngai from 5-10mm, some places over 30mm.

Warning of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many communes and wards in Ha Tinh : Cam Hung, Cam Lac, Huong Khe, Huong Xuan, Ky Anh, Ky Hoa, Ky Khang, Ky Lac, Ky Thuong, Ky Van, Ky Xuan, Song Tri, Vung Ang; Cam Trung, Hai Ninh, Hoanh Son, Thach Khe; Cam Xuyen, Mai Phu.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

The hydrometeorological agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to have prevention and response measures.

Along with that, at sea, the tropical convergence zone currently has an axis at about 11-14 degrees North latitude.

The sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the sea area west of the North East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone), the sea area north of the central East Sea has scattered showers and thunderstorms. At Bach Long Vy station, there is strong northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8; Ly Son station has gusting to level 7.

Forecast, on the day and night of November 3, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, rough seas, and waves 3-5m high.

Tonkin Gulf has strong winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts of level 8-9, rough seas, waves 2.5-3.5m high.

The sea area from South Quang Tri to Hue city has wind level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough sea, waves 2-3m high.

In addition, on the day and night of November 3, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, the North and Central East Sea (including Hoang Sa special zone), the South East Sea (including Truong Sa special zone) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves over 2m high.

Warning: During the day and night of November 4, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong Northeast winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, rough seas, waves 3-5m high; the Gulf of Tonkin will have strong Northeast winds of level 6, gusts of level 7-8, rough seas, waves 2-3m high. From the afternoon of November 4, the sea area east of the central East Sea area will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, then increasing to level 8-9, the area near the storm center will have strong winds of level 10-12, gusts of level 14-15, rough seas, waves 5-7m high.

Marine disaster risk level: level 2. All vessels operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves.
