Proposing 3 stages of semiconductor chip production suitable for Vietnam

DNVN - The representative of the Vietnam Innovation Network (VNIK) in Korea has just proposed 3 stages in semiconductor chip production suitable for Vietnam including: semiconductor packaging, chip design and traditional chip production.

On the afternoon of June 30, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung worked with the Vietnam Innovation Network (VNIK) in Korea. The event was held on the sidelines of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Korea.

At the meeting, VINK leaders reported on some of the network's operations in Korea, such as the number of members and typical activities. Accordingly, VINK has supported many activities such as establishing the Vietnam - Korea Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center; organizing seminars on AI and the internet; providing legal advice to a number of Vietnamese enterprises wishing to expand their business activities in Korea.

VINK representatives made some recommendations on the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, especially the Practical Report on Korean Experience in Developing the Semiconductor Industry. VINK proposed 3 stages in semiconductor chip production suitable for Vietnam: semiconductor packaging, chip design and traditional chip production.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung acknowledged VINK's activities and contributions in recent times.

VINK also proposed the development of packaging in the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. In particular, it outlined a number of priorities that need to be implemented to facilitate this sector. These include: ensuring electricity, investing in advanced packaging technology; reducing administrative procedures and decentralizing to the base to make investment expansion easier.

In addition, tax and capital incentives are needed for businesses training semiconductor human resources. Cooperation with other countries such as Israel and Singapore should be strengthened.

VINK also proposed a Center for Research and Application of AI to Support People with Disabilities, aiming to research and develop artificial intelligence applications to support people with disabilities.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung acknowledged VINK's activities and contributions in recent times. The Minister suggested that the network strengthen connections and support for businesses, continue to deploy and develop programs to support startups such as Vietnam - Korea Stratup (VKSE).

For key and key activities and projects being implemented at the center (on semiconductor training, AI training), network members are requested to strengthen connections with the world's leading experts, institutes and schools. Thereby, enhancing the ability to cooperate, provide, transfer and support Vietnam in carrying out related activities.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung suggested that the network members coordinate with the Center to connect major Korean technology partners interested in the Vietnamese market. It is possible to establish research units, offices, laboratories, and manufacturing plants at the National Innovation Center (NIC) Hoa Lac.

Suggest that VINK continue to share knowledge about technology through creating more forums and seminars to share knowledge and new technology. Connect with investors, businesses, corporations, especially in the fields of semiconductors, information technology, AI, digital content.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hopes that VINK will continue to connect to expand the participation of new members, and needs to expand Vietnamese and international experts and intellectuals who are interested in and want to learn about the market, investment opportunities, and cooperation in innovation and technology in Vietnam. Cooperation activities are based on bringing long-term benefits to the country.
