Báo Giao thôngBáo Giao thông27/06/2024

Mr. Do Ngoc Hai, Head of the Department of Road Traffic Infrastructure Management and Exploitation, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, said that the current demand for parking spaces among people is very large, especially in the central area, where there are many high-rise buildings, commercial centers...

Currently, the parking lot system in the city has not been invested in and built according to the plan, only reaching about 20%, lacking more than 900 hectares compared to the target of nearly 1,200 hectares.

According to Mr. Hai, the city has previously used temporary roadways for parking on 20 eligible roads, with tolls, without affecting traffic safety. These roads operate at about 80% capacity each year. Many other vehicles have to park on surrounding roads.

To address the need for parking lots, in the long term, the Department of Transport will coordinate with TNXP Public Service LLC to survey and add more routes that are eligible for paid parking.

Currently, the Department of Transport has issued a document proposing 12 parking locations in District 5, District 10 and Phu Nhuan District.

In addition, the Department of Transport is also researching the implementation of prefabricated multi-storey parking structures, built temporarily in the land corridor reserved for traffic.
