“Golden opportunity” to discuss sustainable cooperation
Sharing at the discussion session, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that with the vision of becoming a smart and sustainable city, Da Nang identifies top priorities in international cooperation. In particular, Da Nang focuses on the fields of tourism , logistics associated with seaports, and information technology.
Along with that, Da Nang was approved by the Politburo in the policy of building a regional financial center; the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024, paving the way for the city on its journey of socio-economic development, especially in attracting investment, thanks to the application of many unique and outstanding mechanisms and policies that have never been seen before in Vietnam: land rent, administrative procedures, planning, investment... Most recently, on January 16, the city inaugurated Da Nang Software Park No. 2. This is a place where IT enterprises gather to operate with many great incentives.
German Ambassador to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth said that the Forum is a "golden opportunity" for many countries around the world to attend and listen to delegates' opinions on sustainable development.
Ms. Helga Margarete Barth said that in recent times, Germany has supported and accompanied Vietnam in sustainable development in a number of areas: energy conversion, agriculture - forestry - industry training; training and sustainable growth for quality jobs... The budget to support projects in Vietnam is about 2 billion USD.
“In the coming time, we hope to have a greater presence in Da Nang for accompanying projects and sustainable development. The city is a livable place, with a fresh climate, modern infrastructure, many special mechanisms and policies, a transparent and open investment environment... In particular, the city is focusing on developing semiconductors, artificial intelligence and forming a regional financial center. German companies are very interested in these fields. The city is truly a destination for businesses to explore cooperation and investment opportunities,” emphasized Ms. Helga Margarete Barth.
According to the Mayor of Gold Coast (Australia) Tom Tate, the Gold Coast and Da Nang have many striking similarities. Both are famous coastal destinations with beautiful natural scenery, a thriving tourism industry, and a commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
These common points will form a solid foundation for cooperation and development between the two localities, in which tourism will play a key role. In addition, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate believes that the two localities will have new connections in other areas of economy, education, culture, etc. in the near future.
Da Nang cooperates with 50 localities in 24 countries and territories
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang assessed that the Forum of Friendship and Cooperation Cities - Da Nang 2025 achieved important goals set by the city.
2025 is an important time, a pivotal year entering a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise. Based on the opinions of the delegates, the Secretary of the City Party Committee made important commitments and proposals.
Firstly, Danang's foreign policy goals in the new era need to be based on the foundation of sincere feelings, solid trust, equal respect and the goal of mutual prosperity.
Second, the city identifies economic diplomacy as a spearhead, promoting science and technology diplomacy as the focus. With the special policy mechanism and incentives assigned to the city by the Central Government: building an international financial center, the first Free Trade Zone model in Vietnam; other preferential policies for science and technology, digital infrastructure and emerging industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, etc., the city's international cooperation will accelerate, making breakthroughs towards substantive and effective cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit.
Therefore, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang hopes to receive connections and support from localities with friendly and cooperative relations in introducing strategic investors and large investors in the fields that the city prioritizes. The city is committed to creating an open and transparent investment environment, providing maximum support for foreign enterprises to invest and do business in Da Nang.
Third, Da Nang always attaches importance to bilateral cooperation, maintains dialogue mechanisms, promotes and deepens the city's local-level international cooperation in all political, economic and cultural fields.
Fourthly, on the multilateral level, Da Nang will always be ready to play a proactive and active role in the networks and forums of which Da Nang is a member. Accordingly, Da Nang always welcomes and prioritizes the implementation of cooperation programs with members of the same Network, especially in the fields of environment and climate change response, for the goal of sustainable development.
Fifth, position Danang as the growth and integration pole of the Central region of Vietnam.
At the forum, Da Nang connected with two new friends: the city of Aktau from Kazakhstan and the beautiful city of Genoa from Italy. From here, the city's international cooperation map will be expanded to 50 localities in 24 countries and territories.
