
"The leaders of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation hope that team leaders, or representatives of federations and associations, will share and encourage athletes throughout the training and competition process at the 33rd SEA Games," the announcement from the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games stated.
Earlier on the evening of December 13th, swimmer Vo Thi My Tien won the silver medal in the women's 400m individual medley at the 33rd SEA Games. She finished behind the host country's athlete, Kamonchanok Kwanmuang from Thailand.

After receiving her medal and stepping off the podium, My Tien met the Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association, Dinh Viet Hung. Mr. Hung demonstrated a technique and said something that made My Tien bite her lip and cry. The young swimmer then left, without having time to take a picture with her silver medal.
The leader of the Vietnamese delegation at the 33rd SEA Games stated that he disagreed with the actions of Mr. Dinh Viet Hung. At the same time, the leaders of the Vietnamese sports sector requested that team leaders and representatives of national sports federations and associations should share and encourage athletes throughout their training and competition at the 33rd SEA Games.
