Can Tho businesses strive to contribute to overall growth

In 2025, in the context of the global economy still having many fluctuations, the domestic economy continues to face many difficulties, the business community and entrepreneurs of Can Tho City persistently face challenges, constantly innovate to adapt to the new context. In the first 9 months of 2025, it shows that the business sector gradually expands the scale of operations, increases investment and production, and contributes positively to the overall growth of the city.

Maintain recovery and development

According to the City Department of Finance, in the first 9 months of 2025, Can Tho City had 3,453 new enterprises entering the market, an increase of 58.8% over the same period in 2024, the number of newly registered affiliated units was 1,717 units, an increase of 18.7% over the same period. The number of dissolved and temporarily suspended enterprises also increased compared to the same period in 2024 (an increase of over 11%), but lower than the increase in the number of new enterprises entering the market. In addition, the number of enterprises returning to operation increased quite well at 35.2% and especially the number of affiliated units returning to operation reached more than 110%. This data shows that, despite being greatly affected by the instability of the world economy , the city's business force is still maintaining the momentum of recovery and development.

In the industrial sector, the industrial production index (IIP) in the first 9 months of 2025 increased by 8.65% over the same period last year, showing a clear recovery in production activities. The processing and manufacturing industry continues to play a key role in driving economic growth, thanks to improved domestic market demand, low interest rates and a more favorable business environment. This is a positive signal affirming the confidence of the business sector in the economic outlook in the last months of 2025.

Enterprises in industrial parks have created jobs for 93,640 workers, an increase of 1,549 workers compared to the same period; the number of workers of FDI enterprises is 50,513 workers. The total revenue of enterprises operating in industrial parks in the city is more than 100,771 billion VND, an increase of 12.62% compared to the same period last year.

Business activities of enterprises in the trade and service sector achieved positive results. In the first 9 months of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached VND 259,620 billion, up 17.93% over the same period in 2024. This high increase shows a strong recovery in domestic demand, reflecting improved consumer confidence, flourishing trade and service activities, actively contributing to promoting economic growth and supporting the recovery of the business sector.

New opportunities, new fortunes

In addition to the achieved results, in recent times, production and business activities of enterprises have also encountered many difficulties in accessing capital, high interest rates, tax and fee policies; pressure from economic fluctuations, and market competition. Some small and medium enterprises still have limited human resources and technology to carry out digital transformation; export markets have encountered many difficulties, especially the US market...

According to Mr. Vuong Thanh Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Can Tho City, each entrepreneur has his own concerns in the business process, so the city always accompanies entrepreneurs and enterprises, especially will continue to change the mindset from "enterprise management" to "enterprise service". At the same time, continue to strengthen and promote administrative procedure reform to build a transparent and favorable business environment. Decentralization and delegation of authority are promoted, especially in handling administrative procedures, helping private enterprises easily access and promote production and business activities.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Minh Phu Hau Giang Seafood Joint Stock Company, shared: "After nearly 15 years of construction and development, Minh Phu wishes to bring quality products to domestic and foreign partners. We determine that we must both achieve production and business goals, bring foreign currency to the country, and take good care of job creation and stable income for workers. In 2024, we paid 13 billion VND in taxes and contributed 11 billion VND to social security. Currently, the company has 5,234 employees and is expected to attract 10,000 employees in the near future. The company hopes that the city will continue to pay attention to creating conditions and supporting businesses in legal procedures, administrative reform, vocational training, and attracting people from far away to work in the locality...".

Recently, the Party and the State have issued many policies to open up new opportunities for the business community to develop. Notably, Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development; Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation. Along with that, the merger of Can Tho City, Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces opens up a new development path, with open economic space, abundant resources and many breakthrough opportunities.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hao, Chairman of Can Tho City Business Association (CBA), emphasized: "Can Tho City with more than 20,000 operating enterprises, continues to affirm its key role in the city's socio-economic development, is a pioneer in innovation, digital transformation, international integration and sustainable development.
