NDO - In May 2025, many new soldiers undergoing 3-month training at Battalion 158, Naval Region 1 had the opportunity to meet and interact with poet, Doctor of Education Nguyen Thuy Anh in the activity of spreading the love of reading and building a reading culture.

The Party Committee, the Command of Naval Region 1 and the Party Committee and Command of Battalion 158 are very interested in encouraging soldiers to read books and study on their own, hoping to create motivation for soldiers enlisting in 2025 to practice, cultivate, and improve their qualifications and skills during the 2 years of military service.

Through that, he shared and presented reading techniques, helping soldiers in their eighteens and twenties build habits and form their own need to read.

The thinking operations applied in the reading process will help Navy soldiers practice reading, thinking and writing skills, which are very useful for improving their qualifications and developing themselves later.

In an open and friendly atmosphere, the Navy soldiers also enthusiastically interacted, shared their dreams and thoughts about life, training, and performing tasks in the past 3 months, and their dreams of contributing to the mission of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the coming time.

The soldiers had many practical questions, sharing their concerns about reading such as: how to choose reading time, how to concentrate on reading, how to take notes to read books effectively, and taking advantage of the process of implementing the 11 military disciplines and regimes during the day.

Poet and Doctor of Education Nguyen Thuy Anh has passed on many reading skills and warm emotions to soldiers.

Soldier Dao Trong Loc in Company 2 also confided his determination to change himself, considering the two years of military service as an opportunity for development, in which Loc will focus on reading books along with training political qualities, training for combat readiness and improving physical strength and endurance.

He shared: "I believe that my family will be surprised at my change!" Many of Loc's other teammates also expressed their desire to learn about different areas of knowledge and life skills and asked Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh for advice on choosing the right book genre.

In addition to instructing reading and memorization skills, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Anh also presented how to organize reading activities in military units, with the hope of spreading reading inspiration in armed forces units without taking too much preparation time, without affecting study, training and practice time.

One of the forms of organizing activities was carried out right after 30 minutes of preparation: a poetic play with the theme of love for the sea and islands, created based on excerpts of poems by poets: Lu Mai, Nguyen Minh Cuong, Doan Van Mat and Thuy Anh - writers who are closely associated with the theme of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
