Recently, in Washington DC (USA), the 27th Vietnam-US Human Rights Dialogue took place.

The US delegation was led by Ms. Erin Barclay, Coordinator for Global Democratic Renewal, Senior Specialist in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, US Department of State , along with representatives from the Office of International Religious Freedom, Office on Global Women's Issues, etc.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Mr. Pham Hai Anh, Director of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Government Office , Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communications, Committee for Ethnic Minorities...

The dialogue program focuses on the following main contents: fundamental freedoms including freedom of expression, association and religion; protection of the rights of vulnerable groups and people marginalized in society; judicial reform and the rule of law; human rights in labor and economic cooperation.

The dialogue took place in an open, positive atmosphere and a spirit of mutual respect.

The United States recognized Vietnam's achievements in areas of ensuring human rights such as gender equality, workers' rights, and LGBTQ+ rights.

The Vietnamese delegation informed the US about issues of concern, affirming that Vietnam is a state of law, all individuals are equal before the law, therefore no individual is prosecuted for exercising their freedoms, for being a "religious activist" or "ethnic minority activist", "human rights lawyer".

At the same time, provide information on efforts to build a legal corridor to address existing problems in ensuring people's freedom in the online environment and in practice, ensuring freedom of belief and religion, gender equality, ensuring rights for vulnerable groups, ethnic minorities, and workers' rights.

At the end of the Dialogue, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as labor, ensuring rights for vulnerable groups, peace and security for women, etc.
