U23 Vietnam's opponent lost 4 key players in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship

According to the New Strait Times, U23 Malaysia will be missing 4 key players at the 2024 AFC U23 Championship for various reasons: goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim, defender Azam Azmi, midfielder Richard Chin, and striker Ruventhiran.

Among them, Richard Chin was born in England and is currently playing for Bath City on loan from Charlton. The remaining three names are all players who have been called up to the Malaysian national team.

Striker Luqman Hakim is the most prominent name in the list of U23 Malaysia. This striker is considered a "child prodigy" of Malaysian football and is currently playing for Yokohama SCC in Japan.

Notable faces of U23 Malaysia also include defender Harith Haiqal, midfielder Mukhairi Ajmal and midfielder Fergus Tierney. Among them, Scottish-born player Fergus Tierney played very prominently in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

U23 Malaysia is one of U23 Vietnam's opponents in Group D of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship. This team is led by coach Juan Torres Garrido and aims to reach the semi-finals to compete for a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to the 2024 AFC U23 Championship schedule, U23 Malaysia will play against U23 Uzbekistan on April 17, then face U23 Vietnam on April 20 and meet U23 Kuwait on April 23.
