Captain of the Vietnamese women's football team Huynh Nhu shared this at the ceremony to honor typical collectives and individuals in the Vietnam Glory Program organized by the General Confederation of Labor (GCL) and Lao Dong Newspaper on the evening of June 4, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace ( Hanoi ).
Captain of the Vietnam women's football team Huynh Nhu received a certificate of merit and trophy from Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien and Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang.
Attending the ceremony were Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang; First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy... along with leaders and representatives of central departments, ministries, branches, and representatives of honored collectives and individuals.
The Vietnam Glory 2023 program is part of a series of activities to welcome trade union congresses at all levels and the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union; to celebrate the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948 - June 11, 2023).
Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said that after 17 times of organization, 258 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in various fields of life have been selected and honored. The typical examples honored in the program have continuously promoted their qualities and experiences, continuing to contribute to serving the people and society. Thereby, creating a strong driving force, having a wide influence, contributing to promoting patriotic emulation movements, making practical contributions to the development and prosperity of the country.
Continuing the theme "Vietnamese Courage" in 2022, Vietnam Glory in 2023 chose the theme "Vietnamese Will" to honor and encourage the strength and spirit of overcoming all difficulties and the desire to contribute of the Vietnamese people.
"The program has chosen to honor 5 outstanding groups and 11 individuals, typical of the will and aspiration to rise up, overcome all difficulties, determined to fully promote inner strength, promote self-reliance to stand firm in common challenges and find ways to rise up, inspiring the community," said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang.
Notably, among the 5 honored groups are the coaching staff and the Vietnamese women's football team with an inspiring story of extraordinary determination and will to conquer the peak in a sport that seems not to be for women, with the determination to affirm their position in the region and internationally.
Achievements of the women's football team: 8 SEA Games championships; 3 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championships, ranked 4th in women's football at the Asian Games (2014), entered the final qualifying round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the quarter-finals of the 18th ASIAD - 2018, and the final of the 2023 Women's World Cup.
On behalf of the Vietnamese women's football team receiving the award, captain Huynh Nhu shared: "To get to where we are today, it has been a long journey for the Vietnamese women's national football team. Luckily, we have received the love and proper investment from the Government, the General Department of Sports, the Vietnam Football Federation and especially the love of the fans."
Huynh Nhu said that the whole team always maintains the spirit of solidarity, the team is a family. Each member of the family tries to overcome challenges together. The homeland of Vietnam and the love of everyone is the motivation for the Vietnamese women's football team to achieve the success it has today.
“Getting into the women's world cup is the dream of the whole team, and of Vietnamese football fans. As everyone knows, the opponents of the Vietnamese women's team in this tournament are very strong, but the whole team always keeps the belief that they will never falter. This is also an opportunity to promote the beautiful image of Vietnam to the international community. Hopefully, the team's journey will always receive the love and support of the fans. The whole team also promises to always try their best to be worthy of the spirit of Vietnamese women, to be worthy of the love of everyone", Huynh Nhu expressed.
