“No matter how difficult it is, we are determined not to let people in the border areas continue to live in dilapidated houses,” said Lieutenant Colonel Duc.

Responding to the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" and the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind" launched by all levels, in the first half of 2025, Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard deployed a movement to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households in border communes.
Although, in Lai Chau, the weather conditions were harsh and traffic was difficult, the border guards did not mind the hardships, staying with the villages and people day and night, determined to "overcome the sun and overcome the rain" to bring the program to the finish line soon.

To have resources to carry out the movement, each officer and soldier supported the movement with one day's basic salary, each soldier supported 20,000 VND. Thus, in terms of money alone, Lai Chau Border Guard mobilized 285 million VND. In addition, Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard received and gave support money to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses from the Border Guard Command for 10 poor households in the border area.

In addition, hundreds of officers and soldiers went directly to the area to carry out the "3 stick, 4 together" with the people to build and repair hundreds of houses for poor households and ethnic minorities in the border areas of the Fatherland. All officers and soldiers carried out the work with the spirit of determination to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the border areas so that people can "settle down and make a living".

“Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for people in border areas as if they were their own relatives and families” is the determination of the Lai Chau Border Guard force. In the first six months of 2025, the Lai Chau Border Guard force has built 174 new houses for the poor. Officers and soldiers in the force have contributed 1,193 working days, contributing with other forces in Lai Chau province to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses throughout the province.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Truong Minh Duc, each newly built house is not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also a living proof of the close bond between the army and the people, contributing to maintaining territorial sovereignty and national border security.
In the coming time, Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard will continue to speed up the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the border area, determined to strive to exceed the set targets.
